Do conflict zones increase your combat rating?

I ask cos Iv just run my guns dry in a conflict zone, went to local station cashed in my bounties, but my kill count remained unchanged.

There's no kill count visible for players.

The "bounties claimed" figure tells just that, how many bounties you have claimed for payment and because some ships have bounties on them from more than one jurisdiction, that figure can go up by 2 or 3 each time you destroy a wanted ship. And if the ship you destroy is clean (and has no bounties in any other jurisdiction either revealed by the kill warrant scanner), "bounties claimed" figure doesn't increase.

From conflict zones you claim combat bonds, the statistics tab has separate entries for those.

Nice. I jumped into one last night and lasted 2mins b4 I had to runaway. For some reason a couple of nme condas took exception to me and promptly kicked my teeth in. :) I dont even think I got a shot off it was madness. Unfortunately I had run out of game time. Looked fun as well. Hope its there this evening still.

combat zones make the bonds counter go up, not the bounties counter.

And yes they work for rank. The guy who got Elite status had 99% of not-so-his-really kills at a federal capship instance.

Any kill counts for rank btw. Not just bounties or bonds. How much depends on the difficulty of your oponent and your own rank. That makes progressing past Master/Dangerous really hard as a bounty hunter. You just don't find high enough ranked oponents reliably enough outside of combat zones.

Sidenote for bounty claimed counter. If you have a KWS and bounties for more than 1 faction are detected. The counter will go up by how many were found. Say you bh in an alliance system. Oponent has bounty from Alliance locally. And via KWS another one for Federation is found. Upon kill, the counter will go up by 2.

That's a shame. I thought it would be a good way to increase combat ranking. Oh well back to RES Zones then.

I get the feeling your rank goes up quicker if you spread your kills across all three types - bounty, combat and missions. I spent ages at nearly harmless but after just one (easy) mission moved up to novice. Coincidence? Maybe... Any thoughts?
