Newcomer / Intro Seeking luxuries?

Ok.......... so whilst bumping around this evening... I came across at least 2 Systems with loads of Seeking Luxeries spots.... I mean loads... at least 10 -15 in each system... I got nosy and dropped into one to see what happens.... as already posted a couple of L9's station keeping and broadcasting "best prices for the top 10 trending items" or something similiar !!!!... I was empty at the time

BUT

how the hell do you work out what these guys are wanting to trade??? or scan and take or whatever happens ???????

I've seen some vague posts on here (the forum) about Performance Enhancers ... but that is dated news......

Luxury Items are quite varied, Tea is a luxury in some systems. Check the mission boards in the system and see what they are asking for when they refer to 'luxury items wanted for the locals'.....
And the luxury traders auto remove the items they want from your hold once you are less than 1km from them.

thanks I'll give that a pop tomorrow night..... I did notice that they seem to cluster in groups around stations/outposts and nearby planets

Scan them with a cargo scanner.
AFAIK they'll buy whatever they're hauling.

I did my first 'Seeking Luxuries'-trading the day before yesterday and found the traders carrying Performance Enhancers.
So I grabbed a cobraful of PerfEnhancers and jumped back to the traders and was quite surprised at the full-auto trading, when I came near them.

I gained about 750Cr/t of PerfEnhancers; unfortunately quite a bit less Cr/t/h than my current trading route.

This way of making profit does NOT count towards your trading rank as well FYI.

You sure about that? I can tell you that my highest trade to date showing in my stats was a trade with a Luxury Trader for one of the more valuable metals for a grand total of 675k in a lakon-6. That was my one and only Luxury Barge trade, and it remains on my stat sheet as the largest transaction. I figure, if the game tracks it there, why wouldn't it be also included in your total trade stats in that same section? I have only done this once, so I didn't see if my total trade numbers moved or not, so I'm not sure myself--I'm curious if you have data to back that up. :)

I noticed that my trade data did not increase when 'giving' 400T of commodities to these fellas.

I've traded with these guys a couple times and the stats seem to increase under the "smuggling" category. Not sure if that has any impact to overall "Trading" rank.

Yep my shipping of Performance Enhancers went down as smuggling too. Had a great spot going where they were in the same system as the station that sold them, was making 100k every 6 minutes or so in my Type-6.

Performance enhancers are all run out now though :(

Noticed the abundance of this myself. I think its a bug... there are literally 20-30 between the systems I roam.

Note: killing these guys counts toward your "Kill traders" missions, if you get those. But they are quite tough with their elite sidewinder escorts.

I have also noticed MANY in the systems I am trading in. Sideys are easy prey when you ram them! :)

so... in summary (so far)

1. no known list of goods

2. Performance enhancers

3. scan them..... um ... nah I carry cargo in my transporrt.... not cargo scanners :)

4. it does not count towards trading total value

5. it counts towards smuggling total

6. maybe either or neither of #4 & 5

7. luxury wanted on the BB in that system (not tried this yet... but seems a long shot)

8. Sideys are easy meat if you ram them in a BIG ship :)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I smell another broken mechanic that got through Beta and Gamma.... tut tut
