I have to say that the pc port of gta iv runs shockingly badly on my pc, which runs more modern games (eg bioshock infinite, witcher 2, dishonored, far cry 3)very well. I am a bit worried that the port for v will be shoddy too.
You can't possibly say that gta sa is better without playing v. Technically v knocks sa out of the park; I've not played long enough to compare the stories, but I am really enjoying the three arcs: it allows rockstargames to tell stories that wouldn't be possible for one main character.
I will probably pick up gta v on pc in the inevitable steam sale, but I am glad I bought it on console now.
I'd like to get someone from Rockstar to tell me why they insist on screwing the PC owner, but I know they'd never answer that question to the likes of lil ole me.
Maybe it won't be so bad this time?![]()

I thought your link would take me to an article about how the PC version would not be crap unlike PC versions of GTA SA and GTA IV
Heheh can't answer that one with a link, still if they've got PC code in there the thing must be setup for a PC version. Also, what issues did you have with the past PC versions? I have them, I didn't really notice any problems.![]()
I take it that your PC was as high or higher performance than either console? You weren't trying to run it with the minimum requirements?GTA IV was a horrendous PC version ... yet, strangely, none of this applied to the console versions ... and don't get me started on the XBox vs PS2 / 3 version.
My PC is as good as a PS2 ... by today's standards, it's not that high a PC, but was a high spec PC when I bought itI take it that your PC was as high or higher performance than either console? You weren't trying to run it with the minimum requirements?
I've never played any of the GTA games... But I've lately become intrigued by them...
I read in the press that GTA V is not really great. They say it is always the same. The graphics are from another time. Finally the game is not at the height of its reputation. Even if it has already raised more than U.S. $ 1 billion
and not at its height for reputation? apart from some side issues for some regarding loading disks(not me) the reviews from most players are that its at its best ever! ive only had it a couple of days and its outstanding in game-play/graphics etc, and ive barely scratched the surface!
Have you played it yourself?![]()
Got to agree with this, I was messing with it last night on the PS3. The thing thats shocked me is the size and detail of the city San Los! I can't imagine every single part of that city modeled by someone at some point? It really does take the whole Skyrim openness to another level. On the negative side, I spent waaaaaaaay to much time in the strip bar perving and blowing all my cash!

GTA5 sounds great from reading reviews and seeing what everyone has been up to in this thread & I want to ask for some help here…
My partner and I had our delightful courtship killing prostates et al playing Vice City over 10 yrs ago on a PS2. Now we're a little older, have a nice garden with chickens and cats in tow and wanted to Play GTA5. Call it stoking up the fire…(-: Our present game console is a Wii which is only used for family games at Christmas time & we don't own a PS3, Xbox 360 or a PC. We're all Mac - sorry Bill.
There's plenty of offers out there for a game console + GTA 5 but we can't decide PS3 or Xbox and also what drive size would we need to just play GTA5.
Any advice would be gratefully recieved… of course while we wait for ED to be released !
I think both versions have a mandatory installation of about 8 GB; the 360 version comes on 2 discs, with the first one being an install disc and the second one being a "play" disc; it is not recommended to install the "play" disc, because using the hard drive and disc drive simultaneously is faster than using just the hard drive (or something).
I don't think it would matter which platform you got it on, if you had no interest in playing other games. Maybe PS3 because of the blu ray player?
I'd bear in mind Rockstar's history with Microsoft, so as much as I am loathe to say it, the Xbox might be a better choice for GTA V
The two versions are now very closeThanks for the help..
yes we'd only be playing GTA 5, XBox scenario sounds a little complicated plus we have an aversion to Microsoft (-: - yet the 360 has Kinect which looks interesting.
PS3 or XBox - Daddy or chips? are the graphics for GTA 5 the same on each?
We're merely looking for a way to play this game in the cheapest way at the highest quality at the best resolution - I guess the future proofness of consoles is up for debate, but interesting to know only 8gb is needed for this game.
edit I guess it'll be the PS3 then?
