Will people ever lose that bugged money?

How is that possible? Am I missing something??

400-500 tons of cargo and a 20 Ls milk run trade route will do that.

Like I said earlier there are at least 2 legit trading billionaires and scores of hundred-millionaires. What exactly is the difference to a new player between these legit rich traders and anyone who somehow managed to keep ill gotten gains ?

None. No difference. The high rollers are still in their Type 9 or Anaconda and the new guy or the OP of this thread is putting around in a Sidewinder or Cobra.

Plus you can just play solo if you can't handle other players having more expensive ships than you. But those NPC Anacondas have no qualms about interdicting your Sidewinder. A real player might think twice because the 10% hull damage might cost a few hundred thousand credits to fix.

They removed the billions from those that were "just given" the money.

They are actively punishing exploiters they are aware of and there have been a number of threads by people moaning that they have been reset.

The gamma rares trading was a balance issue, not an exploit.

The lack of gamma wipe is now basically irrelevant as many people from release day are now steaming ahead (including at least one of those trading billionaires).

So, what was the problem again?

I'll just quote this to keep it visible.

Never know, somebody may end up actually reading it.

So many trolls...
The troll are you my dear, and the envy one. So much enviousness, incredible.
I cannot hear people like you anymore ... really.
Not like that, not like this and of course all exploiters here...

But the best punishment for you anyway is letting you talk.

to all others:
Sorry, i couldn't keep still anymore

How does the amount of loot earnt or exploited by others affect my game? It doesnt. I just keep plodding on and trading my way up the slippery ladder as I have before. What others have done is a complete irrelevance to me. This game is about me vs the galaxy. Sure I may bump into other players and they may kick my butt but thats just another game experience to enjoy. I may even kick their butt and again its just another experience of me vs the galaxy. I am in no competition to reach Elite 1st, 2nd 3rd or last. I am just playing it as it comes. I dont care that others have billions, when I only have millions. They are not gazumping me for anything. Sure they may afford an Anaconda thats tooled up, but theres no way I would be ready to take on a tooled up anaconda in my tooled up anaconda (if i had one, which I dont) anyway. It isnt the ship that matters but how you use it.

Do you also hate on lottery winners OP? Can't you be happy for them?
I felt compelled to respond to this: Just for the record, I don't mind about what's going on in the game. It's just a game.
However...I think in real life, if you're relatively poor, it's unintuitive to arbitrarily feel happy for the wealthy (unless they're your friends or loved ones). Working a 9-5 job can pay less than 1% of that of another 9-5 worker (CEO's for example are said to earn on average 350 times that of the lower grade employees in the same company, but few people would argue they do 350 times as much work). Sweatshop workers in some places in the world would need to work for over 10,000 years to achieve the same current level of wealth as their bosses (this is not an exaggeration) - are they lazy or stupid? I don't think so - even so, should these qualities qualify you for a life of poverty? You may even be highly educated and still be working long hours for a fraction of the money. Wealth distribution is heavily skewed in society, beyond the reasonable level of providing ambition or incentive to others, and I think it's healthy to be aware of it. This is all.

I was playing the game pretty steady for a while but I quickly stopped playing after I realized that some people had pretty much infinite money due to mistakes made on frontiers side or through various bugs/game breaking rare run routes before they were nerfed. I understand that people say "Well its not really hurting you since it doesn't effect your game play at all" but it does... I don't want to play a game to earn something to show it off to other people that play if they can go out and buy 10000 of the same ship completely decked out after only playing for about 10 hours. Even taking the money away that was given to them now is no longer a way to fix this issue since they had the ability to buy the best trade ships and make a ton of money that way through a ship they didn't earn. Anyway, will this ever be fixed or should I just give up on this game that had such high potential. :S

Can you name a single CMDR with infinite moneys or an A-fitted Cobra not earned through trading until their eyes bled? Not here, but just to yourself. One single CMDR?

I'm really annoyed about this game, it's so unfair that people who've played the game longer, found shortcuts and generally have loads more credit than me and show it off by flying big ships, are allowed to.
Ive been playing 2 weeks or so now and I've not got much, I want lots of credits, credit that has zero impact in the real world!!!!!!!!!

Elite isn't real life; the wealth of others has little if any impact upon your own enjoyment of the game. Reality and fantasy are not the same thing and comparing the two leads to all sorts of problems, like the OP's misery.

Could you clarify what you mean by "unless they're your friends and loved ones"? Specifically, why would you feel happy for the wealth of your friends and loved ones and not for a random nobody's? I suppose if they are close to you it's reasonable to assume that they fall within some sort of acceptable zone of moral conduct... But morals like all things, are relative.

To be quite honest, what other have compared to what you have shouldn't matter in real life either...

If I logged in today, and found my balance was a couple billion credits, I'd log a support ticket and ask them to take it away. Because, right now, I feel a sense of accomplishment when I do a successful mining run or a quest or I score a 40k cr bounty on some wanted guy -- I don't just keep score based on my credit balance, like some people do, but I do enjoy the feeling that I'm earning something. If it was all just handed to me, then what's the point of playing? There'd be no satisfaction in buying a super expensive ship I didn't earn. It would ruin the game for me.

I remember when Diablo I came out, a friend found an "infinite gold" bug and suddenly the game turned from "bash monsters get loot have fun" to "I'm rich and now I am overpowered because I can buy overpowered gear and I'm a steamroller and there's no challenge anymore." Ugh.

You should just give up on this game completely. Clearly, your ability to enjoy the game is welded to the progression and fortune of others. Sad.

Nevermind, maybe I'm talking rubbish.

I don't think it's rubbish, what you said makes sense - one should be mindful of injustices committed against themselves and their fellow persons, and where such injustices exist in the guise of success one needs to be careful where one treads.

Certainly, these billions might have a greater effect on other players later on if those who received them squirrel them away and build an empire around that fortune. If FD do go further with player wings than just allowing players to group - e.g. creating corporations or some such, then database errors that award players billions of credits on accident will become a minefield of scrutiny and questionable intentions.

I've asked myself what I would have done had I received that cash, and I can say for certain that I would not relinquish without a second thought.

The other thing here is that real life is a zero sum game. When one person gains resources, be it money, food, water, really anything material, by necessity, it is taken from someone else. In most situations, there is enough to go around, but we are still talking about finite resources.

In this game, it is NOT zero sum. Sure, some things such as rares are limited by quota, but ultimately, the game provides unlimited resources, thus eliminating material competition.
