Who is happy they didn't buy it?

Have to say there was all the grief about no offline and it is fairly obvious why there is no offline, there is very little "cheating" going on and FD are able to update on a regular basis (mind you most of the grief was a case of empty vessels making the most noise)

Personally I can see why there is no offline mode - and gues what for this game its 100% the right decision

I 'bought it' fighting Exaga in Alpha
I 'bought it' docking at Zelada
I 'bought it' attacking Anacondas at the high intensity combat zone
I 'bought it' exiting from supercruise too close to the station
I 'bought it' firing outside Freeport
I 'bought it' by forgetting to ask permission
I 'bought it' boosting past the toast rack in a type 9

Oh boy, I bought it big time and will carry on doing so. Sometimes with giggles, tea and bikkies.

Beer -> Nose -> Keyboard. Owwwwww......

(FYI internet in UK is hardly 24/7 it goes off at least several hours to 1-2 days a month imagine being in middle of something important in ED when that happens? oh yea! and thats the UK try living in Uganda where governemnt has to cut off the power every odd day....)

I'll have to be more observant! I obviously wasn't paying attention all last year, and so far all of this year too, as I haven't notice mine going off once.. bog-standard BT Internet too.

Frontier has even included online only DRM on their forums.
Poor guys like the OP have to actually go online to post complaints about ED.
It's absolutely despicable.

I ticketed this last week - bloomin FD why is no one responding to my ticket about no offline mode on the forums. I was out in the country the other week and wanted to read the forum on my phone no signal at all and I went to the safari page and nothing - got my wireless ipad out and also nothing I'm in a field in the UK and nothing ,,,,why FD?

Not good enough I say and if FD don't close my ticket soon and fix it I'm off

what a misserable poster lol i have had and continue to have hundreds of hours of fun in elite but im glad you did not buy it cos it means i dont have to share a galaxy with such a downer lol

Sure, I get frustrated when there are bugs or server instabilities, but in general I have a pretty stable internet connection. I can understand that you had looked forward to this game for a long time, and were dissapointed when you found out it would require an internet connection. In case you missed it, Frontier has mentioned more than once that if they (Frontier) ever lost the ability or desire to continue the game on the servers, they would release it to the public to live on.

Also, I guess your situation makes me appreciate my situation all the more. I tend to take for granted a stable, fast internet connection, any time I wish to tap into it. The fact that you don't have this sucks, and I feel for you man. Regarding the decision to be online-only, I can see Frontier's point (as to why they made that decision). As technology changes, so does the things people develop to take advantage of that technology. Having an offline (or several offline) version of the game would probably bring complaints that they don't have the dynamic, player-influenced galaxy that they promised.

But on the offline forum, no one can hear you scream.

Can I suggest to make all of us an offertory, and buy a megaphone to him? So he could go when he want around his home to say to all the world how online playing is terrible and that the end is near....

After 2 weeks of playing this game and logging about 100h in, I find it absolutely boring now. At first I was pumped about the combat, so I bought my first eagle but its very straightforward, circle the enemy till you line up with him. Combat kinda sucks when the modules have so little info on them as well.. Then I bought a cobra and things became a bit more fun, I was participating in high/low int. zones. Cool? I just made 3000CR for destroying a Master Anaconda ha! Then, looked up some players here on the forums and their achievements CR wise, since I was interested in getting the most expensive ships and kitting them out proper. I see players with 400BCR, wondered how that was so, so I sold all my ships and bought a type-6, started doing trading, made 25m, bought a type 7, made 100m, bought a type 9, made 800m and bought an anaconda. made some more money after that, and now its just boring, no more content.

If you want to complete this game, just go and trade.

its basically a money pool, since killing a Cobra with a wanted status and a bounty of 1k CR gets old and boring.
I'll probably play this game just because its kinda fun to see all the high numbers, and its fun to have most ships, but till they get the balancing between Bounty/Exploration/Trading done right, there is only 1 way to go in terms of credits.

They also need a lasting content and some more diversity. Killing elite Anacondas is boring AF. What kind of Pirate Lord, goes out patrolling the sector when he has a 150-190k bounty on him? there should be fleets attached to him/her, or several other ships.

Is this guy for real? Elite Dangerous is an awesome game if you know how to get the most out of it. It's only going to get better. Your loss buddy.

Anyhow I got better things to do than feed the militant trolls of this forum as I stated I am not interested in games that are ONLINE ONLY and as I also stated it is a major disappointment that Elite has taken to this.

Have a good day trolls!

Yeah...I get you're frustrated bro, but you do realize that the troll in this thread is you, right? As for the UK internet situation, I honestly hadn't realized it goes down for days a month. Perhaps you ought to get some people on that. Still, when I read that your internet was unreliable, I thought it was much worse than what you now claim. You find it unacceptable that you won't be able to play a game a couple of days out of the month? Not exactly drowning in tears over your situation there, I often go a week or more without playing because I work 12+ hours a day. What do you do with all of the time you are connected to the internet? I guess whatever you do is more enjoyable to you than playing this sweet game...that is somehow not "interesting" to you.

IMHO - Persitance authenticated DRM is by far the least offencse way of doing DRM, I don't mind it at all. I wish they had two factor auth, but a strong password will do for now.

But then I remember code wheels, manual iconography and quizzes and all the other archaic and horrific copy protection in times of yore. I'm just glad I don't have to use all that crap anymore.

EDIT: And I freeking love digital distribution over the internet, and I've got a dozen boxes of old software floppies, CD and DVDs that attest to why. Though I will always treasure my boxed copy of Full Throttle.

30 years gaming - most expensive game ever purchased and already more entertainment per pound spent than any other game I have bought.

Actually the sound and the docking experience is worth the money I spent without all the other entertainment I have had.

The only time I have had serious outages is when the cable is cut by a contractor!

Have fun OP - disappointed we will not see you in space, but its your choice whether you buy a ticket or not - have fun.
