Questions about the Python.

Whats with the ridiculous running cost of this ship? Is this a "welcome to the big leagues" sort of thing or what? besides the overpriced nature of fuel that can be averted with a fuel scoop. I had a collision with a type 9 (the type 9 lost btw) but it put me at 18% hull.. So i think well it can't cost much more then the Clipper i traded up from. I get to a station and find myself staring at a 1,389,218 CR repair bill and am in total shock. The only thing i can think is either this needs to be correct or frontier needs to stay FAR away from the python with an nerf sticks. I seriously can't believe the repair cost for this ship.

Welcome to the big leagues, right?

And i play solo so no, i wasn't grieving a player. I was simply in a rush to get out of a station and now have a 1.38 million repair bill. I guess its better than a 3 million buy back but I wish learning the lesson of not scratching or denting my python didn't have to cost me so much.

Just to give you the heads up, the python is going to be rebalanced. As in slower speeds and then rates.

Well from what I hear/see, it is essentially a mini Anaconda, and can even rival an Anaconda in firepower. But basically it has a lot of features for a ship of that size, kind of like an ASP.

I don't own one so I can't say how correct the costs are but for a ship that size, 1mil would seem to be alright.

Amazing how many people do dumb stuff then blame the game. If you play solo all the time you will never understand why the python is worth every penny to buy and run.

Its pretty much a "don't even think about" ship.

Did you have 4 pips in shields and were you exiting in a slow sensible manner? I assume not. Frankly, you're lucky not to be space dust. Not many ships can survive a T9 collision.

The station warns you- kill your speed, not your credit balance.

The other thing is, when you took possession of your 58MCr ship, why did you fly her like an eagle? Did it not occur to you that she would incur far higher costs? Did you do any reading of app reviews before your purchase? Again, I fear not.

Sorry, man. I guess that comes off a bit harsh. But it's a harsh kinda game in some ways.

Well 50% of T9 is about 1M, and 25% of Anaconda is about the same as you paid for your repairs.

okay thanks! wasn't looking for sympathy or sympathy bashers. i was looking for this answer here. props. Now i know this is the norm for these expensive ships and i just need to fly with some sense about it. The only question i still have is about the fuel cost. Is this normal or a glitch? I am circumventing it, like everyone else, with a fuel scoop but I'm still curious.

In general you make a good point though. With repair costs like this, people will not risk their ships in PVP or even risky PVE situations, making the big ships outside trading less useful.

I's rather buy a cheap viper to go to a combat zone, than risk 10% hull damage on an anaconda or python. I don't think that is intended...

Having the Python there is no trouble at all in earning money for maintenance or repairs. If you want to make a trading Python then you can equip it with D3 shields and cargo racks that could transport 284t of Cargo. This should allow you earning 3M Cr per hour without any efforts.

If you choose to make a combat Python then you are going to equip it with A6 shield generator and A6 shield cell banks. Taking out the shields in this configuration is not easy and given the Python's firepower you should not have any troubles earning money bounty hunting or taking assassination missions.

This is completely wrong. When you can properly afford a ship like this then you are making enough profit that even losing the ship all together is trivial I have a fully pimped Python and a t9. I spend a couple of hours in both each evening. I've had the Python blew out from under me lots of times but an hour in the t9 more than recovers the loss.

This should be done. Python is simply too good now.

Agreed but....There should be purchasable modules to improve manoeuvrability, allowing wealthy pilots to bring the ship back at least close to its old manoeuvrability rating . These modules should be very expensive of course but having this in game keeps you on your toes.
"maybe that great lumbering Anaconda isn't quite so lumbering"
