10,000 ly out - CRASH - And I'm at Luchantauo in the core worlds

I was star mapping out at almost 10,000ly from Sol. Happy in my exploration expedition and enjoying it too. Never been that far out before and going further out was kind of exciting for me.
Then I suffered a crash. Not the first, so thought nothing of it. I expected to log in at the same distant star system as I crashed in, but didn't. I have ended up back 10,000ly from where I was. How disappointing, how angry I am.

How unreliable is this, that progress is easily wiped.
Says a lot for the game doesn't it.

I only hope I've retained my map information.

It's still a beta affair.

friend of mine had the same bug recently. hasn't been as far out, but still pretty bad.

his exploration data was saved at least. good luck yours is too.

What ? That should be no bug, that should be highly intended and I always thought if work that way. Explorations are risky endeavours and nothing which can be done lightly. This risk is alyways flying wth your ship and every step further from home makes it more riskier. That is the thrill behind it to be all alone out there without failsafe net or support. All your data is stored in your ships computer and should be lost if you blew up.
It would be boring as hell if you would respawn endlessly in the same system as you have died. In EVE online for example you spawn where your last clone was not where you died. So the way it is implemented here is completely logical. This can't be a bug.

I will never go on a exploration tour if the only thing that can happen to me is a lost ship with only insurance money to pay. That would be so boring.

Edit: Oh ok, your GAME chrashed, not your Ship. Then I got it wrong. Yes, you are right, that should indeed be fixed.

have you raised ticket?

No.. I'll start again. Not waiting for a couple months for a response.

I've had a nice little moan though.

I didn't die... the server crashed on me.

The way I read OP post hes not saying his ship crashed into something but that his game crashed.

I believe he suffered a game crash, not crashed his ship...

Well report the ticket anyway. Its the intent of the game to make saves only at stations for the purposes of respawning after death, the game is supposed to maintain your progress and save at your location wherever you go as long as you don't die. If your PC crashed and you respawned that is a pretty serious bug and you should report it so they can fix it Even if they don't immediatly resolve your issue.

We found out not to long ago that Beta testers had some sort of loading bug and someone brought up that the loading bug still existed after release, than a dev came on and said "its the first we are hearing of this".. turned out, no one ever opened a ticket.

can't get fixed if no one reports it and it no doubt took more effort to make your post than it would have to fill out the ticket to fix the problem.

it's harsch, but the name of the game is: Elite Dangerous ;-)

Can we please stop using the name of the game as an argument? In this case the game crashed and the player lost progress due to no fault of their own, I'm pretty sure that is not the type of danger that is meant by the name.

Very well, I'll ticket it.

I didn't die... the server crashed on me.

Put a ticket and ask to be teleported where you was with alla the datas you've lost. The game is RELEASED, you don't have to suffer bug like this. At least It will not happen again if they fix this.

Made it back home to SOL and docked.

I've also retained my map information... what relief. ;)

I don't feel so bad and will go out exploring again soon. Down, but never out.
