Another 'it's a giant snooze fest' review from RPS

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/01/17/the-arc-structure-of-elite-dangerous/

"When you begin, your ship has a cargo hold with four slots, which instantly makes most trading missions unavailable to you. That would be fine, if those small missions that your starter ship could complete were available from every station, but they’re not. It’s common to fly for long stretches and not find anything you can actually do."

"The commodities market, meanwhile, is willfully obtuse. ... Imagine making a game with as slick and impressive an interface as Elite, and then creating systems that all but require players to alt-tab over to a screenshot in order to play. "

"Glumly grinding out the funds to get a larger hauling ship – necessary if you’re going to make properly good money – is an exercise in grim frustration. "

If you read the review, you will see that the reviewer is not using all the in game information tools available to a trader. He/she is not using the trade flow Galaxy map, nor the import/export column in the commodities trading UI.

I think it's safe to say that two chaps at RPS don't enjoy playing ED. That's ok, there are many games I don't like too :)

Probably a dumb question, will the lights on Earth be accurate?

I won't likely head back there, just would be comforted if I knew it were correct.

David Braben spoke about this before, and said that in the Elite timeline by 3300 the cities on Earth are very different compared to today.

The ywill be an unbelievebly accurate depiction of the Earth's illumination in 3300, from what Ive heard :þ

The player goals sounds interesting, a good way to get a lot of players together in a small space.

They should implement the reverse as well, 'Anti-player goal missions' who have to try to stop the goals being met.
