Lack of Interest

I still play. Grinding credits.
Why ? Well, just in case.
I'm waiting for GTA V (PC). Then I'll probably return to Elite. Then I'll switch to Star Citizen *unless* I get some missions (real ones) and some exploration stuff (like, you know, finding something else than balls).
That leaves them (FD) with one year at least to work on the game. Which is not much when I see what they did during the last month but well, it was Xmas so ....

Me too, really looking forward to gtaV on the PC, shame they put it back a month. I'm playing ED until then and hopefully that will be a natural break, then in April I'll have a look back and see how ED is coming along. If ED isn't progressing then I'll have a look at SC I suppose. When is SC supposed to be out?

No one really knows, i would guess at somewhere between 12-24 months. Maybe even longer. Could be amazing if they deliver what they say, so will hopefully be worth the wait.

I switched from an upgraded Asp to a mid-level Eagle tonight, which had the effect of slighly renewing my interest in playing. Did a few hours of bounty hunting and dropped by in my gamma starting system for old times' sake. Of course some silly commander then shows up at the nav beacon in a Viper and kills me outright with some high-damage weapons despite me not having any bounty or cargo, but hey, at least I can afford to die some 800+ times at the Eagle's insurance rate.

Maybe I'll try a conflict zone next time.

I haven't really been following SC, I've looked at some of their videos and read a bit about what they want to do. If they managed to do all they want to it would be an incredible game, I'm rooting for them - I'm in favour of anything that pushes games up to a new level. Hopefully they'll hang on and not release until they have it the way they want it.

Yep ideally they will, and the best thing about it is that its is not at the mercy of a greedy publisher, which was the whole point of crowdfunding it in the first place. Time will tell i guess, as always.

I was looking at sc last night seemed they had or have a 2016 goal of sorts. Got to say though i think id never really want to give up ed if it had smore features. Waiting for a DK2 should be here next week

Well i dunno, the idea of flying a ship such as a constellation, with manned turrets, detachable fighter and full interior, sounds amazing. Along with 4 other player crew members, while running cargo for yourself or other players. Getting attacked, sometimes by other players, taking accurately modelled damage, fighting boarding actions in first person, dragging casualties who also take accurately modelled injuries. Lots of multiplayer interaction, on many levels.

Hopefully ED will have some similar levels of multiplayer one day, but right now its not even close. ED is a good base game, but it needs more features, quite badly. Yes people still enjoy it, and thats cool. I do too. However as someone said earlier, some people just enjoy casual trading back and forth etc, easy and hassle free.

I am sure both games will cater for different appetites.

So, I got home today,.... Booted up the game rig,..looked at my DK2 and had pretty much zero interest in playing Elite:Dangerous.

If your avatar shows your other hobby, than head out to the dropzone make some more hybrids. That will help you look at the game from different perspective. ;)

I'm fresh in ED, so didn't get to the point where I feel bored, but I'm already thinking about getting involved in some group efforts like "Elite Diplomatic Corps". Perhaps this is the way to go?

GUess I'll have to play hearthstone or arena commander between updates.... I am taking a break.... maybe played only an hour/day for the last week..... log in ...get to ship make a trading run or 2 kill some pirates,....sigh...log out.

I guess I do just that (playing an hour/day) since beta. Solved all the problems with boredom... ;-)

If you people play any game 12h/day it will become boring after a (short) while... ;-)

Playing the wrong game if you're looking for content.

This is an RP game tru'n'tru, if you're not making it up you're not really playing.

That Really sucks.... When I first loaded up the game and played on the DK2, I thought I would never stop playing. And as cool as it is to really feel present in the game, after almost 2 months of doing the same few things over and over, I am just bored with the game. The grind to make money to buy bigger ships to make more money to buy bigger ships to make more money to buy bigger ships etc. etc. is uninteresting because there is nothing to do with that money except buy bigger ships.... I can't build an empire or own a station, I can't join a union or a guild and participate in large objective based combat or missions, I can't do any meaningful or productive exploring...beyond point at a star or planet and wait..... wooooo hooooo. Money/credits should be a means to an end,...not the end in and of itself. Combat vs. NPC's is ridiculously easy, vs humans is more fun but almost never evenly matched, and anyone can just DC to avoid the consequences of losing a fight. Man,... sitting in the ships in VR is the coolest thing I've seen in a game.... BUt cool surroundings can only carry a lack of depth for so long. SO, I am left checking in after updates to see if anything has been changed or added (not yet far as I can tell). I'll check back again after 1.1..... I didn't really want to pirate other players, but that is probably the only semi interesting thing left to do in this game.... Problem with that is there are never any players around even in supposedly "busy" systems I hardly ever see anybody. Not to mention that I dont really want to deal with the coms panel.... I'd need to set up voice attack to use in in VR.... so maybe interdict and see what happens.... runners get splattered,.... people that drop their cargo live (maybe) ... I don't know what else there is to do really.... suggestions welcome.

Just bought X-Wing Alliance, I am happy again :D

edit: And it even supports my pedals AND my force feedback stick natively :D

More and more CMDR leave the game because is boring. So in a few month only the kick starter will play it and come to the forum and said this game is amazing....

Why does every game now suddenly need a doll house mechanic otherwise its considered boring. I dont want a doll house mechanic.

This game is out from a month, and people already claimed to be elite in battle and trading. Sound ridiculous to me. This game is based on capitalism whit a big C. The way we can buy ship only whit money is a big mistake. Some military or big ship should be only available at faction when you come friend whit them. I'm working on a thread with some idea for the game I will post it in a few days.

Because they don't find it interesting, they find it boring. It bores them. Bores them enough to come here and post it. They are bored.
Why does everyone try to defend this game as if it isn't boring? Because it is.
Now, if I put down $150 for the game as a special Kickstarter snowflake, $300 for my DRII, another $350 for a HOTAS plus whatever else I have sunk into this I may posses a cognitive bias, and think I like the game, a lot more than I actually do.
For MOST who have seen it, played it and gotten bored, it then should become obvious to everyone the Emperor needs some Clothes.

So how is this any different than a Rage Quit post? It's same old poop, just with apathy instead of teeth gnashing. Do what you like, do you think saying goodbye will suddenly make them kick out the feature you're dying for to keep you? Have fun and enjoy your time, where ever you like.

And so it begins...
now even the DK owners start to realize that something is missing...
