Show us your games collection

I know some of you guys have some serious classic games collections - I especially remember seeing one of you with quite an impressive collection of Elite games.

Unfortunately this is not a true representation of the games I have because I've purchased one or two through Steam and Stardocks Impulse - namely the Orange Box and Sins of a Solar Empire. I've missplaced my copy of CIV4. I also can't find my copy of World in Conflict and all my really old games are in storage back home in NZ including my FE2 (well shhh actually it was my brothers :D) and FFE.

These are the ones I have the covers for!

Cor, now theres a question,

Get the feeling me and Geraldine being Amiga fans we may have quite a collection between us

Apart from the Elite series which I have the FFE boxed version and the Amiga version of Frontier, I aslo own original copies of

Have a fondness for the point and click adventure games

PC Games
Simon the Sourcerer CD Version
Discworld 1&2 CD game
Fade to black
Beneathe a steel sky
Monkey Island 1&2
Full Throttle
The seventh guest
Day of the Tentacle
Quite a few of the Call of Duty series. and Medal of Honours as well.

To name a few ;) Got loads more but old age is catching up with me, memory and all that.

I do tend to sell the ones I didn't like. as like Steve I've started using Steam.

Ancient Toys

Thats a nice collection you have there Steve, I have 22 of the PC ones you have in your picture,

And yes TJ I have collected quite a few Amiga games since the 1980s, including Cannon Fodder 1 & 2, Civ 1 AGA & ECS versions, Walker, Subwar 2050 and all of the Alien Breed games just to name a few of the boxed ones. Also have 100s of coverdisks (plus magazines) and ADFs for Amiga Forever. One day I must sit down and catalogue them all, might take a while!

Also sent away my Miggy 4000 to Amigakit to see if they can resurrect the old girl. Fingers crossed they can fix it, then Napalm, Foundation and Nemac IV (very late Amiga games) can be fired up again. :) Been a week now................:(

Bladerunner was a pretty good point and click adventure. The replicants were different each time, which was cool and made for a slightly different game each time you played it.

Sounds good. I wonder who has the rights to it now. Syndicate was a little like Blade Runner, that's getting a remake isn't it? (FPS though, I think)

Blade Runner was mas made westwood, now part of EA but the copyright probably remains with the film studio

good god
i guess i need to place them on the moon to make a photo of (in fact most boxes i throwed away, it's not so important to me to keep the boxes, i know a shame, but when you had such stormy times like i had...) further many games i gave or throwed away , but if you havn't the possibility to put all into your backpack well...

they will be listed as they come to my mind, not alphabetical.
copies will not be listed (as far as i remember if it was/is a copy)
i decided to include my old console games to, as far as i can remember them

the list will be maybe updated later on, it's really hard to remember all.

intellivision:
i'm not shure if i still have this bag somewhere, i guess not
the console itself is dead since i don't know, even when i bought once a 2nd one (2nd hand).

Star Strike
PGA Golf - along with soccer that came with the console my first purchased, sometimes when i'm in the mood for, still played.
the random elements of inty's games are the best part of it.
Skiing
Soccer
NHL Hockey
Tennis
Astro Smash
Tank Battle - many, many hours of fun for two
Sea Battle
Tutankham
Pac Man
Adventure (konami) - really like to play that sometimes, don't laugh
Frog Bog - i Played that (emu) often with my son when he was ~7
Donkey Kong - the arcade ports was rather lame for the inty, all except
Bump & Jump
Car Racing
Sub Hunt - name can be wrong, but similar
Triple Action - has included a little dog fight game, wonderful!
Shark! Shark! - i never had really, but listed because it's outstanding simple
and fascinating to play for two. Mattel never advertised the game really, it was one of the childrens section, but became a Hit.
it was never on my wish list back then, but if i had knew it's that fun...
sadly i could never get my hands then on AD&D. dev's should concentrate on what's the magic behind such games, imo.

---

Master System:

Action Fighter
Tennis
PGA Golf
Volleyball - cute, i liked when the players start to get nervous, i played that often with my girlfriend i had then, no wonder, she played volleyball in a team.
Alex Kidd - came with the console, but noteworth because played often, after all i feel better then Mario, Yvonne (the volley ball player) could walk through that one like nothing.
Sub Hunt
Alex Kidd, Enchanted Castle - WIKI states a Mega Drive game, wrong, i had it for Master Sytem*
Wonder Boy in Monster Land - one of my favorits for the Master System
Miracle Warriors (the seal of the dark lord) - you play one such RPG you have seen all, up to Final Fantasy 5000, imo. sidekick: it took me years to find out how to finish the game, i had to read a review in web therefore, but the writer of the review couldn't even finish it to before that time without a help.

---

Amiga:

i was a "late" amiga user, mainly because i had a time of "no entertainment"
(no TV, no Stereo, no Computer) in between. :(
i gave a lot away then, fortunatly my parents kept a lot up.
at this place, promise me
never to follow any "guru", how charming or whatever religion!
but after all a important stage of education, nonetheless.

Rise of the Robots - floppy edition & cd32
Frontier CD32 - ok, only 2nd hand, but a must to list here, no?
Humans CD32
Global Effect CD32
SimCity - halfbright, is that right? disk is broken :(
Dragons Lair
SimLife
the two that came with the CD32: Diggers(i liked) & .....
Skid Marks 2 CD32
Beneath the Steel Sky - never played really
Sensible Soccer CD32 - of course sensible massacre to :D
Lords of the Realm - a "buddies game"
Space1889 - one of my late discoveries, but i still play that sometimes, i have a hdf with some specials like the maps of the planets (of course hand drawn) to put on WB background. all activities on WB will be commented by AMIGAS croaky voice. different to a lot other RPG's, active fights, a lot of traps or deadends.
Indiana Jones - clever RPG, imo
F1, Microprose
Microcosm CD32
Vendetta CD32
Speris Legacy - no doubt
RRTycoon
the Settlers

two freeware/shareware i will list here, because all of my friends, girlfriends, whatever, liked to play them (even my ex-wife)
Colonial Conquest II
Deluxe Galaga - this must be a magical one :D

---

Super Nintendo, lately too
if you wonder no sports on nintendo?
nintendo sports games are lame, imo, all i have seen
dumb and one-sided (i.e. choose germany in SN soccer, you win allways, further you could stop playing and the team will play on, advantage to the kid?)

Donkey Kong Island
Super Mario - all in one
Lucky Luke - a clever game in my opinion
Asterix - a kind of Risk (the game "Risk" of course)
Zelda - a epic game! (not the brand)

Nintendo is a good example of what is common today, take the last penny out of the parents wallet. games never been sold here for a half of the price or such when outdated, they took all back from market, unlike SEGA or Sony.
i truely never liked their strategy and a reason why i bought the console 2nd hand, it was more because of my son and games listed here are only the ones i classify as good.

usually i'm a patiently waiting consumer, i can easely wait half a year or more 'til they lower the price, if the game is good it's still good then, only it costs less.

---

PSX and PS2, i put together
the games and consoles stay with my son
Gamecube i won't list because it really belongs to my son only

Colin McRae 2
Gran Tourismo
TWPGA Golf 04
SW Demolition
Asterix - different one to SN
Dragon Ball - some, i can't remember quite, wasn't my choice
GTA3 - i've bought this for him against my wifes will :p
-what was the name of the skateboard game? i liked it
Touring Cars - imo, much better then GT
FIFA Soccer - can't say which, each year they have a new one

shure some more i forgot

HAL and such junk ;)
some are my first (non console) i ever bought, i played them on my fathers computer then, i will separate them

SimCity
SimEarth
Populous

to obtain a game was quite difficult then (early 90's), not only for the PC, since i grew up in a mountain valley and no big city in a range under 50km.
additional i don't like to order things, never, neither games, records or videos. i like to go into a shop and see what i buy, especially those days you still could listen to a record or play the game before purchased.
one exclusion to that is, i ordered some intellivision games from hong kong
this was possible then, because inty has no difference for TV systems programmed on the ROM, unlike the burglar nintendo. the main reason was, they was else impossible to get here, of course price was much lower and it was somewhat illegal, but hey, i wanted to have some new games.
talking about price, it was far to steep 100 - 120 SFr each i mean thats a (price in HK incl. shipping ~30 SFr) and i was still in education then, so not fully paid.
we have a price watcher here in switzerland, actually a young one.
"prices in switzerland (for import) are made after what the HQ thinks a swiss will be able to pay for it, not on what it's worth". it's not new to me.

now to the more recent section, there is a large gap between the first ones
and '98

SimCity 2k
SimCity 3k
SimCity 4 (rush hour)
the Sims (deluxe)
SimGolf (early)
Sids SimGolf
SimCopter - i love this game, even when it can hang a 100 times. but to rescue people with your heli, what could be better?
the only reason for rush hour was EA's promise that you can do similar in it,
far behind! a lie!
if one dares to release such, i will buy it, 100%
Combat Flight Sim
Screaming Deamons - a combat flight sim
Sports Car GT - this is the best racing game imo, when you release your hands from the wheel after a hour, you are completely finished and soaked with sweat.
NFS 3
NFS 4
Settlers 2,3&4 - any questions?
RRTycoon 2 (platinum) - i made 2 scenarios for it, one is still under construction (needs a bigger map, terrain outside borders of switzerland to be exactly. the other is one of the rather rare city scenarios, if you got the game, switch to my website, and download the "Zürich" scenario, it's damned heavy, as bigger you get the less you will earn. a yearly poll will show your progress and the estimated price for one ticket. a lot of special offers i put in but decision is not easy, both yes/no have their advantages an disadvantages. it's that heavy that even i who wrote it loose mostly. besides of that you can use it nearly as a city guide, oh i forgot, it's of course in german, but if you feel; YES i want to see how that feels, i can translate it it would be a sneeze.
the other is a conversion of the existing "gotthard" scenario, it's more a "battle for switzerland" and you will have to "bribe" each city or terrain you like to obtain, further only bordering terrains can be obtained. sadly ther is a small leakage, the missing terrain outside the borders of switzerland. AI has showed me the failure i made and outsmarted me with a very long track through the french part earning so much money on the plain straight track between two cities i had no chance then. else it's a very cool one i guess and like in war each city your enemy obtains is lost for you, to win in a common way (without the track outside the borders) needs careful planning of what you will conquer as next. still the gotthard plays a central role and who can manage to connect basel and chiasso has won.
but since your enemy can cut you off, not easy.
Asteroids 2000 (i guess)
Galaga, destination earth - a good shoot 'em up, i like the changing views, horizontal scroll, vertical scroll, 3D, reminds me of Vendetta. the rescue pods idea is great.
Far Gate - you can't play all, really not
Halcyon Sun - can't find that no more, my son must have it

really i have to make a break here, it's far to much, there will be some more

---

* a lot of games have been released on later consoles to, one of the most remarkable ones (but not because good) are the Dragonball games (i must for my son then) released in europe very late on PSX, i found out later the tv series was allready 10 years old (compared to Japan) and all games have been released there as SNintendo games. you can say a allready cheap nintendo game as a 1:1 PSX release, a impudence, imo, because they wasn't cheap to buy here. real bad games, imo, crappy animated and content was equal to 0, i used to say they need only one "groove" of the CD-ROM, but gained prices like a real PSX game.

Nice collection there Potsmoke.

My recent purchases have been:
Alan Wake - Xbox360
Red Dead Redemption - Xbox360
F1 2010 - PC (off Steam who for once had the best price!!! hooray for smarter marketing and sales!!!!)

good god

Heretic burn him burn him:D:D

Beneath the steel sky a great game you should get around to playing it best place for Rise of the Robots is the bin. played Space 1889 a couple of years after it came out on the Amiga, really enjoyed it and I whish I had keep it as there’s not many games which use that Victorian steam punk setting.
Being picking up PS1 game myself lately can’t say no when some one say 50p or pound or I see one in a charity shop for a couple of quid.

Two games for you Potsmoke, firstly Vietnam Med + Evac, rescue soldiers from Vietnam's jungles, with a touch of combat thrown in too (hot LZs), secondly Search and Rescue 4. No combat this time, but a choice of helicopters and a wide variety of environments and weather conditions. Quite tough games because you must reach the rescue site within a certain time limit. Both games can be found on Amazon for a low price. ;)

Oh and Spacegamer is correct, you should give Beneath A Steel Sky a go, a great adventure game. The artwork in it was done by one of the artists from the 2000AD comic. You can get that for free on GOG, quite legally of course! :D

Calling All Amiga Owners!

This is basically a repeat of my post on the SSC, here goes,

Ok, calling all you Amiga owners from the past, present (and future?) There is a massive survey going on to find the 100 greatest Amiga games of all time. Dont worry you don't have to pick 100 (although for some of us that would be easy,...ahem  ), you just have to pick 10. Then after a bit they will collate all the lists into a final top 100. If you would like to take part here is a link http://survey.classicemu.com/index.php?sid=16557

More about the survey itself can be found here http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=4668
1000s of people have already voted so it should be some list once it's completed. Not that I would try to sway your vote or anything, but it would be nice to see a space sim right up there at the top, here's hoping :)
