Unfortunately, this doesn't fix the bug where the ranking and permits get themselves confused. In Ross 128, yet get offered the unavailable mission to go to Ross 128 for the Federal Communique. Ticketed weeks ago and still no response, so I can't get past Warrant Officer. :S



I get this all the time.. don't worry when it is time you will get offered rank mission. I did, now lieutenant. -edit addition, you will get offered Vega permit b4 lieutenant though I'm pretty sure..

No one else getting this validation error? Last time this happened I had to troll the internet for an uncorrupted version of the data.ovx file. Don't suppose anyone whose successfully updated to 1.06 would mind posting theirs? Pretty please.

Had this problem twice now,
What works for me is starting the single player download again (never finished it)
It's about halfway through and when i start the download again it scans all the files I've already got,
Once its done scanning i just cancel the download again and go back to online.
Worked both times.

Under settings in launcher I think there is a validate game files setting which should also fix it..,

I was thrown out of the game twice with "connection error - could not connect to matchmaking server"

now the third time - never had so many so close...

Yes, such integral "deep" mechanics should be driven asychronously, not synchronously/temporally.
It's bad design, if as simplistic as implied.

It's not a living universe if the values that makes it 'living' are only calculated once a day. It's a frigate cronjob for crying outloud!

Hardly a living universe. More like a dead universe which is shocked once a day. It should be asynchronous.
 
I'm glad that there won't continue to be the disconnect between "slaves" being prohibited goods on the system map, but then you go to a station and they're right there for sale on the open market.
 
Bug: Get a slaves mission. Go buy slaves more slaves than you need from elsewhere. Return with surplus slaves to station that gave you the mission. Check bulletin board, and you might be lucky enough to find another slave mission to sell 2 more slaves. Turn in both missions (the original and the new one) and you will be given credits for the original mission, but for the second one they will take your slaves but not give you any money for them.

This has happened twice now and I have been robbed of about 88,000 credits.

Edit: Now I'm doubting myself and thinking maybe they were just rep-gain missions.

Conflict zones now appear regularly, but are Seeking Weapons ISS part of the background simulator yet or do you still seed those by hand?
 
At least the last couple of updates have been replacing my AppConfig.xml file with the default file, removing the port forwarding information that is required to let me reliably connect to the servers. This seems to be an unintentional action, since line 10 of the update log states "Skipped AppConfig.xml" (implying that it should not be changed by the update process). I've submitted a ticket on the issue.
 
- Fix for matchmaking in private groups

Still a pain to get into the same instance as my friends while in privet groups. Sometimes when we do there are members of the group that cant see each other (cant even see some of the enemy ships the invisible players can). We have to all log out and back in at roughly the same time to even have a chance of seeing each other in game.....
 
Any chance that the patches can stop resetting AppConfig or give us a menu option to turn VerboseLogging="1" back on so the log adds the system name?
 
In the near future, will you reboot the servers less often? Daily downtime on an online only game is bad. Forces us to come whine on the forum.. Serioulsy even if it's only 15 minutes, it breaks your current objective totally.. Or sometime I would like to start playing but I know the server will reboot 20 minutes later so I go play something else.
 
Awesome fix you guys. Hopefully I won't have to jump 6 systems from Lave anymore to turn in my bounty. Made a noob mistake last time and got stuck a system before the closest Empire allied one with no fuel scoop and no stations. Was the first time Elite showed that it wasn't playing around. Really gotta plan your trips. Lol

I've been there for three weeks now and still no offer. I'm certain it's a bug as after the patch I now have lots of extra permits and the rank up mission before, I got two invites for two different locations. My suspicion is like the issuing permit problem now fixed, the mission offerings themselves get confused if you don't immediately do the invitation as soon as you're offered it.

Did anyone get Missions for Rank-Improvements since this Update is running? I'm not. :(

Nope, I think there is bug which the safety net fix only partly addresses
