Why did I stop playing?

NPC gameplay is MUCH too easy.....after i killed my first elite anaconda in one of these assassin mission in my eagle, i went quickly to the viper.......
i killed them over and over again......and now sit in a python.....
only the time i can kill them changed......

but a challange it never was.....

what this game needs QUICKLY and BADLY is harder missions! missions that pay off well in reward! let us fight condas and pythons with escorts.....give us missions that can only be won in a wing.....for millions of credits!

against NPC´s you reached everything in this game if you sit in a viper......sadly enough...

in PVP the king is the python atm......got one?! haha....you fool......they nerf it now....
thx...final goal again in the viper..

so i "finished" this game after 3 days of playing.....on the 19th of december already..?!?!?!
great

I stopped playing maybe week after release. I am HUGE space fan and even bigger E:D fan.

I have been playing to 2AM realizing I have to get up to work every day, hell, I even forget to eat some evenings.
But then I got Cobra. I got the cannons on it, armored myself up and went hunting. The problem was, I could even hunt anacondas.

When I killed my first wanted anaconda, I was pretty happy. But then I killed another one, and another, but then I realized I have killed the biggest "boss" ship of the game.
I could stopped bounty hunting and go trade, but why? Why to save money, what for? I killed the biggest ship, I don`t need to save millions and millions of money for Python or some trade ship.

So after the week of playing I had the state that I have achieved almost everything. I love the game, but I felt there isn`t much to do, yes there are plenty of stuff to do, galaxy to explore, wonders to see, but why to make money if I don`t get more "powerful" against something else?

There are many activities and maybe now with the community goals there will be stuff to achieve, but again, don`t know why I have hard times coming back :(
What do you guys do? What kept you playing? Trying to reach some point on galaxy? Or just to trade and mine to buy bigger ships?

Thread name(Why did i stopped playing) is grammatically incorrect, sorry for that i think I was in hurry.

i think you are plying it for the wrong reasons....
and you clearly want to be hand-held or play a storyline.

lacking imagination.

Since you asked - I did some light trading to kit out my cobra. Then I did some bounty missions. I've been mostly working on faction rep, and I'm now a Count in the Empire, working towards Earl. Progression isn't my focus though - I don't want an expensive ship, and I haven't got much in the bank. I've been at this every free evening since Premium Beta - that's 10 months. I'm really just starting......but I'm taking things at a very slow pace, doing a bit of this (trading) and a bit of that (missions) and a bit of the other (assassinations).....going where ever the solar wind blows me. I've only done a bit of exploring, and I've not even tried mining or piracy yet. New mission content is on the horizon and I'm looking forward to that.

I can see how players burn out if they race to the biggest ship or fattest bank balance, but that's not my style....I'm in it for the long haul, so my progression is a slow, lazy, and consistently fun and interesting journey.

EDIT: I hope Empire progression will eventually go beyond Earl - I'd like to earn military medals (like in Elite 2 Frontier). Earning Faction rep has been the most enjoyable part of the journey so far.

The immersion that I experience from living in my pilot's world is the killer app that makes Elite unique....its a Han Solo simulator, and I'm loving it.

Have you experienced any conflict zones yet, OP? Have you tried organizing a band of merry pirates and flipping a high security sector into anarchy? Have you dabbled in any PvP yet?

When you first bought the game was your only goal to kill an anaconda? You accuse the game for being shallow, yet it seems your trivial pursuits are equally so.

I just don;t see how you can think that being able to down an Anaconda you've finished the game, but if that's how you look at it. Yeah you're done. Move on to something else.

I gotta agree with the "harder missions that pay more" part though. This game has a good solid foundation (graphics, gameplay mechanics, etc), and thus, great potential (which is a bit spoiled by a few bugs, but they'll fix those), but it terribly lacks content at the moment. WE WANT MOAR!!!

I too have stopped playing for a while, I have got to the stage where I have a few million in the bank, a T9 and a Python. I have traded into Entrepreneur status and made alot of money. I have bounty hunted and made some rep with many factions to Allied and highly ranked in the federation with many permits unlocked, I could do the same with the Empire but I find I lack the motivation to do so. Right now I think Ive hit a wall where I have achieved my short term goals for the game and yearn for "something else" to draw me onwards.

Yes I could mine, but do not have the patience for it in it's current form, which we can all agree is pretty lackluster at best. Exploring is not something I can do as a pure game play choice, just can't bring myself to scan that much when they chances of finding something special are highly unlikely, just the near same procedural generated zones which after the first few hundred examples become slightly tedious, I don't mind the exploration as a means to an end on other adventures though.

Which brings me to my current state, whats next? Where are the in depth political intrigue and player effecting actions ( bar the current inter system faction ones in place) that has wide reaching effects on the galaxy? Where is the player to player interaction outside random PvP encounters or random group ups at NAV points, I just need more content to keep me interested and I am the type of person happy to just fly around for hours trading. I need more to engage with , more ways to interact with players ( I know this is coming sort of), more ways to make a real difference in the universe, at least locally if nothing else. I just feel like so much is missing from ED right now. I hope that the coming content updates address some of this for me, and the thought of having planetary landing with missions and dynamic content connected to them would be nice but so very far away, especially If I can consistently play this with my regular game mates, who incidentally wont play this for the same reasons I stopped, the lack of things to do, and the lack of content that binds us all together into groups for a common goal.

Sorry if this is a ramble but Im just waiting for something, some content to be included that will make me want to launch the game again.

It's just my opinion here but, you're using the wrong paradigm. The big boss isn't an Anaconda or a Python, it's the Empire, or the Alliance. Changing the balance of power in systems. New stuff is on the horizon as well. Without sounding insulting you shouldn't think like this is structured like WoW or most of the other games out there, Elite has different goals. Widen your perspective, maybe even look for a cause. Try to end Slavery. I've seen posts about that. Drive the French out of that system they claimed. The Galaxy is seriously big, make it yours.

take off the rose colored glasses FD is neither unique nor very good at online game play in any form.

they ignored the beta testers all through beta on social and gaming features...and now you want us to change...lol get a grip there fellaeither they can produce a modern multiplayer on this platform or they cant...and so far they havent delivered squat.

as for new stuff coming soon....you really love the carrot they dangle dont ya.this game has dazzling eyecandy and almost nothing else....and they built there house on the p2p standard....a known hackable inefficient and touchy bit of code...but santaclause will magically make this a modern game sometime in the future.

Fixed the title for you. :)

hehe thanks, that was my biggest mistake of the day I think :D

Yes this is again, exactly how I feel.

Entire galaxy is super amazing to explore, but the problem is its only textured planets every time. I know landings are looong way to go, but that would add complete uniqueness and unimaginable depth to exploration.

Option 1: Hunt REAL players, not NPCs - this should provide you with much higher difficulty level :)

Option 2: Set personal goals and achieve them. Reach Saggitarius A. Find a black hold and fly through it or something :D

Option 1 is not feasable for me personally and many others because of internet connection.
Also, although open play is where you go to find other players, I am put off by the fact that there seems to be a lot of hate against those of us who would do that. Also combat-logging seems to be common. I mean, why play in open if you don't want to be hunted or hunt?

Option 2 is great, I personally do this, but it is evading the fact that ED has this massive problem at the moment, which is that there is nowhere or nothing dangerous in the game, once you have a tooled up ship and a HOTAS, at least.
I can say some combat is challenging if you do it on a laptop with kb/mouse but that is not the challenge I am looking for.

edit - I should point out that the game HAS been challenging in the past. The combat scenarios in alpha and early beta were exciting and challenging.
