Proposal Discussion Is there any reason there is no Non Elite chat here?

I know we used to have a general 'non' elite chat that was removed but I was wondering why.

I would like to chat about other things, other than Elite (especially when the forum is grinding to a halt as we are running out of things to talk about!) with the people that I have got to know on this forum, I could post it on the Frontier forum but seeing as I never look there, then maybe others also don't.

I would like to formally ask for the 'General chat' to be returned to this forum as anything I post about other stuff will be seen as 'Off topic'

I would ask Jim'll but that's out of the question :eek:

The Off-topic section is still alive and kicking, though I don't remember any explanation why it was taken out of the Elite part of the forum.

You may want to search for new posts using the New Posts link in the top menu (User CP | FAQ | Community | Calendar | New Posts), which will show you new posts throughout the forum. Beware though - you need to click the link each time, refreshing the page will only give you a subset of the new posts.

I do know about the 'Off-topic section' on Frontiers main forum but I was wondering why it isn't here anymore.

the 'Elite: Dangerous' Forum is full of like minded people who I am interested in getting to know better before the game comes out.

This is the forum I want to chat on, not Frontiers main site, just my preference .. and I am sure everyone there is wonderful.

I would just like to see the 'E: D - Off-topic section' returned to this this forum ... I wanna talk Steaks, Chips, Burgers and other off topic stuff like, computer games, sports and crochet with the people Here, it's the best forum ... no nonsense ... you say something stupid (as I have done) and you are corrected politely .. So one more time before I put up a poll !!!!!!

(I won't put up a poll ....)

Please bring back the ' Off-topic section'

It was just restructured, it's still the same off topic forum just in a different part of the site. The whole Frontier forums are pretty much exclusively Elite fans.

Then why restructure?

One day it was there the other it was gone, personally I don't visit the Frontier forums (except this one :D) ... I do check every now and the the 'New posts' and yes I agree that you can find some gems there ... But, there is no reason that we, here, on the Elite: Dangerous Forums shouldn't have our own 'Off topic' thread so we don't have to search all over the place to find out what other members think of beans on toast with sausages and humus or how addictive Godus is.

Personally, I only visit the Elite dangerous forum and I would like to keep it that way ...

Now it's time for some (nearly 1 am) Steak and chips ... Damn that's gonna kill my diet ! ... but it is rib-eye so hey!




Just remembered ... I'm not on a diet ... never have been ... it's still gonna kill me though:D

The off-topic is certainly still there, but it seems to me that it's grown a lot quieter since it was moved "out of sight".

I'm in the 'new posts' button crowd, so didn't even notice it had moved until people started voicing concerns about it.

Well, this is not an insurmountable effort to go on the screen forums Frontier, and to click on the forum "Off Topic". The problem is to think about it

In our house we are also kinectimals fans!

We would be zoo tycoon fans too but we have a PS3 and not an xbox.

Note also that there are buttons (little upwards arrows) that let you hide the other forum groups on the main page, so you can make it look like just Elite and Off-Topic.

Unfortunately, you have put the Off Topic Discussion section inside the Off Topic section, thus creating a double negative. Effectively, EVERYTHING in there is ON Topic.

School boy error.
