I'm hoping all the factions are more fleshed out in ED. Right now it's mainly the fandom filling in the blanks with their own imaginations. Hopefully there will be story arc missions for all of them.

Although Alliance seems like a possibility.... as does the Empire and Federation.

Depends on how the planets are aligned on release

I've never played a sandbox game like this before, so I'm not really sure what to expect and how it plays out.

Simply put:

Federation is like the USA with the power of the corporations being even greater.

Empire is like Rome with power hierarchy and slavery (but the slavery has some quircks, such as people voluntarily entering into slavery in order to repay their debts).

Alliance is like EU - loose federation of independent worlds with certain shared goals but many individual needs.

Independent worlds are independent, each one different.

None of those are particularly appealing given the role models involved.... Independent is probably the best of that lot given the parallels drawn...

Oh most certainly be more on the Faction Fiction lore/cannon to come, plenty of Authors writing (some finished to...well nearly!

and we may want to change our sigs yet again to after reading!

Voted me! .... don't care, it really is not important to me, in fact I would go as far to say that it will be something that I try to avoid even contemplating.

I like the fact that there are factions in the game but joining one seems pointless to me .. who ever offers me the job for the most credits gets my vote (at that particular moment)

I have read here that the factions are like (Empire) Rome/England, (Federation) USA or more to the point the corporations, and the (Alliance) is the EU .....

I will work for and against all of them, including the independents.

This whole Fed vs Emps vs Alliance thing to me is only background, the galaxy is my playground!

All the Empire needs is a couple of Spartacuses to bring it down. Oh, and a few crazy emperors, but I think that's covered already.

The Federation... Well, I hate the idea of corporate overlords telling me what I should wear, think, breath, watch, like etc. A couple of independent journalists should bring it down easily enough.

The Alliance will never grow to become a superpower, because they lack focus as a result of their decentralised government. They provide each other safety, however, by combining their resources to purchase and wield heavy weaponry. Relatively nice place to live, I'd guess, if you can eradicate the inevitable corruption.

The Independents... Each one a different, unique experience... Totalitarian governments next to crazy religious cults and various concepts of utopia... That should provide some fun for the adventurous soul!

If you're having difficulties, please get in touch with Allen Stroud who, I'm sure, would be more than happy to help you out with any grammar or spelling. Allen is great at that sort of thing.

and although you are right! its perhaps the only comforting thing that keeps you safe at night reading your dictionary by torchlight.

All huddled down under your Federation "Go Feds Go" duvet cover, holding little teddy tight hoping everything will be all right, whilst you imagine countless Imps are crawling under your Federation bunk-bed!

if its me that you see coming out of the darkness don't worry(it wont be in my assassin role) am probably lost looking for the toliet, happens more frequent when you get older!
