Yep, its quite exciting. I think its only a matter of time before microbial life or evidence of it is found.

Sadly curiosity has been sampling Mars air since she landed and no trace of methane found to date though its not a done deal:

p.s original article nice but I wish popular science journals would refrain from calling scientists boffins. It adds nothing to the science and risks creating stereotypes. *Capt. Hook gets off his high horse*

I think I'm going to somewhat disappointed with their announcement, but I'm hoping they found flowing water. we obviously know theres a ton of frozen water on the poles. but if they found flowing water in a channel in one of the warmer areas of the planet, that would be awesome!

I hope they found some alien ruins. An answer to 'are we alone' would be nice. Although, I suppose finding out there used to be 'someone out there' might not mean much in terms of now.
I think fossilized microorganisms are the most likely, followed by a little underground capsule of liquid water.
