Do try playing with headphones at least once!

Sennheiser pc-363d's here love them to bit and they make ED sound amazing, an Asp decelerating from boost approaching the dock is probably THE best in game sound I have experienced in over 30 years of gaming, honestly if you have never tried ED with headphone I highly recommend giving it a go.

Meh, I have a Cambridge Audio amplifier and some great big lovely warm sounding Pioneer speakers from the 80's, sounds way better than any headphones ever can because they add sound pressure you can feel.

If your going to compare headphones to the crappy plastic PC speaker sets or laptop speakers that most people have then of course they'll sound better, but headphones can't make you feel sound pressure waves in your gut or or vibrations up through your feet.

I have these as well. Expensive but well worth it IMO.

each to their own i guess, i have a decent 7.1 system but it's more than just feeling the sound, headphones pick up detail that my ears don't pick up through my amp.

That's well and good, but when you have a wife and kids trying to sleep (my gaming time is late in the evening) you gotta stick with headphones. Have you tried modern headphones? You might not get the sound pressure, but the clarity is unreal once you break the 300 dollar range.

You Cats convinced me.... Headphones w/mic it is! Maybe I will leave the Sub-woofer on for rumble thou :D
Now. Just have to find decent set at Future Shop, Bestbuy

I always use headphones to game. Big systems cant be used 24/7 and it annoys others if using a mic.

I still need a mic for my pc. But i pretty stay in solo anyways until FD provides a real reason to want to play with others.

I need to try it with my headphones. Have a nice pair from Sony for my PS3: 7.1 surround, and a mega-vibrating bass mode, and a built in mike. Definitely need to try them out in ED!

For the record, the Superlux HD668B headset is special ;)

I'm not sure the OP was suggesting headphones for the benefit of anyone else other than the user, but either way if I break the $300 range for a set of headphones you can come round and remove my ears because I will have clearly gone mental.

I play with Skullscandy Crushers, the ones with minisubwoofers in each ear. Flying through the space station entrances literally shakes my head with bass

I have a properly set up and calibrated 5.1 surround system in my bedroom (I run an AV business) - no way in hell I'm dropping down to headphones!!!

Seriously, if ever you can, make the effort to play ED on a good surround setup - it is exceptionally amazing. I've got TrackIR as well, with a 55" TV, and the audio even tracks my head movement flawlessly!

Just don't watch me whilst playing - I use a girls head band to hold the TrackIR, so looks kinda silly.

Having said that, I'll admit, a very good set of headphones will be the cheapest way to get properly good sound...

Z..

Well I used to have a £5000 hifi setup, but downgraded? due to neighbors complaints to a headphone setup.
Sennheiser Hd650's,Darkvoice 3322 valve amp,Devilsound dac with decent cables-1/5 of the cost and sounds way better:cool:
