Space ship comparison

Wow

Awesome chart - thanks for pointing that out!

The chart puts the new Federal Battle cruiser on a level pegging with the Romulan Minig Vessel (from the first of the two recent reboots) @ 2km...

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
My first reaction is..... man, some of those EVE ships are absolutely mammoth! Seems a bit whacky, actually. Aren't you supposed to be the only pilot in all the EVE ships?

As are the STAR WARS ships... 18 kilometers long star destroyer!

Most of the larger ships in EVE have, indeed, still a crew, only the numbers are greatly reduced, since the caspuleers are so much more efficient at controlling the ships... a dreadnaught, in example would still have 1000s of crew, though.

Speaking of which: Has there been any new talks about crews on large E.D ships like the python?

They seem to be lazy to add Elite ships or frontier ships of pass games.

Which of those star destroyers is the one from the start of the first film? It isn't one of the huge ones... is it the 5km one or is it smaller?

There could be some massive flagships in E;D... not in the original release but maybe one each under construction in the most secure imperial and federation systems...you could go and have a look at it being built.
Would be a parallel to the space race and the arms race in the cold war, as each faction tries to get theirs finished first.

i think it's the imperial-I Class destroyer, 1.6km

the corellian corvette being 151m long

Yep, the Imperium class Star destroyers are the standard star destroyers that are featured in Star Wars 4-6 (i.e. "A new hope" till "Return of the Jedi")
And the Executor is the Super-Star Destroyer that is featured in The Empire strikes back as well as The Return of the Jedi.

Most of the Star Wars Ships (especially tjhe bigger imperial ships) however were never seen in a movie and just part of the expanded universe books and games (that said ... pity that the Yhuuzan Vong ships aren´t part of the chart).

@OP:
Thanks for sharing, very informative

As someone else already said ... the EVE-Titans are truely impressive ... never guessed that EVE features ships that are larger than an imperial SSD.
They should contain thousands of crew members (at least if they have the same crew requirements per size as imperial (super) star destroyers)

I think the majority of ships that we'll be flying in Elite are fairly small. I believe the Sidewinder and the Cobra Mk. III are roughly 'fighter-sized', especially the Sidewinder. The Anaconda is fairly large, though, I'd probably compare it to one of the transports the Rebels escape from Hoth with in Empire Strikes Back just as a rough guess.

Not sure where the battlecruiser from the cap ship battle cinematic would be, but considering the Sidewinders and Imperial Fighters do a little 'trench run' through the middle of the ship I'd say it's fairly large. Probably something like 1000-1200 meters, maybe?

Edit: Ah-ha! Fishing around my old Elite stuff let me find some raw stats for some of the ships. The Cobra is listed at 65/30/130 meters the Sidewinder at 35/20/20 meters and the Anaconda at 170/60/75 meters (reads meters but might be feet?).

Here is an order of magnitude compared to The Big Ben Tower, published in a newsletter, if you had not already seen

And here is the Imperial Admiral spaceship. Note the Anacondas which are parked on the first drawing of the picture and at the extremity of the spaceship

and big ben (edit: the tower of course) is a little beneath 100 m tall. so this is all meters and not feet. if it was 170 feet (52 m), the anaconda should look smaller.

It looks to me, based on those two images, that the Anaconda is in the region of 120-150m long.

EDIT:

Just took the 2nd image into photoshop and measured it; this suggested that the Anaconda is roughly 6.25-6.5% of the length of the Imperial Cruiser, or 125-130m.

So (for the trekkies amongst you), the length of the Anaconda is about the same as the diameter of the saucer section on the classic TV version of the USS Enterprise. :)
