I didn't find these in a search, and I didn't want to read all the posts regarding external views. I'm sure someone must have brought up being able to walk around your ship, ala SC. But how about the option to leave your ship using an MMU? You should be able to leave your ship in a spacesuit with a jetpack out in space. You could circle your ship and take pictures. It would also be very dangerous if you got attacked while outside. You could also explore the nooks and crannies inside and around outposts and space stations. Again, you better mind what your are doing or you might get killed. This would be something you could buy, and at worst you should be able to store it in your cargo hold (1T) and not need to use an equipment slot.

I would certainly make for interesting gameplay for fixing your ship damage manually when alone in space or exploring wreckage. Think the first episode of Firefly.
Not for me, I've lost too many Kerbals to EVA to risk my own life using an MMU

Afterthought: if you are out of your ship and something happens to you how can you survive? Out-of-ship necessarily = out-of-escape-pod.
Use a tether with a retractable winch to pull your pilot back in. It would be nice to be able to EVA and repair something critical like engines to barely functional in the event that a lucky shot gets off and leaves you hobbled.
