5 Million Bounty

don't be salty if you played like a notorious B.I.G (replacement for curse) you deserved to die :p

Trying to ram in combat is silly, but he has reason to be annoyed if a collision with an almost destroyed Cobra resulted in the loss of a ship five times the size and in much better condition, as that is clearly a bug.

Hardly matters that he "deserved" to die.

So...

This was my bounty.

Here's the full story.

This dude attacked me in front of a station...Forget the fact that the station didn't help at all, despite my allied status with it.

I distance myself from the station and engage. He is not even a worthy target. I strip his shields in moments, bring down his power plant down to like 10% with his hull down to 20% or so. I then choose (like an idiot) to clip him with my wing by ramming him. I assign full pips to shields...Mind you I have more than 2 rings left...and I crash into him with my wing. The impact kills me, despite the fact that his ship weighs 80 T while mine weighs 600. Despite the fact that he was at 20% and I was at 100%. Despite the fact that I had shields and he did not.

What the hell, FD?
Ouch! When you respawned did you have to pay the bounty too? I'm unsure of the mechanism as I'm a goody-two-shoes!

I got from harmless to mostly harmless by ramming npc with my Anaconda, so i have to say it is strange.
Maybe an armored hull?
Then resistance of the hull should be quite high even without shields.

Regardless of what I deserve, I choose to play the game as I see fit. I've had this bounty for eons now. The last updated bounty list was from ages ago up until Jan 22 brought the daily updated lists again with patch 1.06.

Think about it for a moment - I've had that bounty since then and for this long and yet nobody has claimed it before...Why do you think that is?

It's not about being salty. I lost 3 million credits in the crash and I can afford to lose my ship 600 times over. That's how I choose to make my path in the galaxy, and that's how I will play and enjoy the game. The 5 million credit bounty took a bit of effort, but rest assured I'll be back on that list before you know it. I will build up a bounty again off of the remains of dead traders and stupid bounty hunters until one day a worthy adversary comes to claim it.

The problem for me is that this is such a blatantly dumb glitch that it does get a little frustrating. It's all fine that the newbie got a nice boost and all, but I've ticketed and posted about the Clipper Mass Lock issue forever now, ever since I got the ship over a month ago. I was responded to by the devs that the fix would come in 1.1 but I didn't think it also extended to collisions...that's just ridiculous.

In any case, look for me again on the bounty list, Commanders. Next time you won't be having a glitch to hide behind.

Edit: I did not have to pay the bounty as I was not in Federation Jurisdiction when I re spawned.

If you get that bounty up before 1.1 is released, its gonna be four pips to shields and full speed ahead! Unless of course you switch to an unbugged ship.

i think there is a bug with the cobra, very rarely do I take damage from Rams.

however, I can't stop laughing.
you got cocky and lost.
more fool you for being over confident.

This is a terrifically funny story. And I see no glitches involved - just bad judgment and ramming, and a bit of bad luck to boot. Liqua won fair and square. Bounty well deserved, in my book.

It could also be that it was no glitch but working as intended. I mean the Cobra has a bulky hull, while the Clipper looks like an elegant fighter plane. If the Clipper is not intended for ramming with its wings because they are a weak spot it might just be that Mr. Pirate made a big mistake rather then being the victim of a bug.

Hardly matters that he "deserved" to die.

Because you expect ramming to be a viable combat tactic, which it isn't because there have been plenty of instances where the damage you take from it is completely random, if you completely outclass your opponent you don't need to rely on a method that is both risky and unreliable. Yeah he died to a bug in a game where we all frequently do I understand his comment that he'd rather it go to somebody who deserved it but I see it as it going to someone of his choosing.

Am I the only one that thinks a collision with a 1% cobra should function like a 100% cobra (and probably does)?

On the topic of collision bugs I think the clipper has a mass issue, there are several threads from release onwards talking about instant death from contact in a clipper, and the fact it also has glitches with its shadow making it appear disparate, and the fact it gets mass locked by an eagle, make me suspicious of it.

If ramming is so fickle

How did i manage then to go from harmless to mostly harmless by ramming npc pirates with my Anaconda???

(shooting them is too easy so i take them out by ramming ...)

Hi Commanders

My first PvP encounter ... left all shaking and everything

Not 100% sure what happened but met a pilot in Shinrarta with a 5 million bounty on them.

I mean, come on, you just have to have a go right despite them taunting me "not wise commander" ?!

(They were in a clipper and myself a cobra)

I know it wasn't my "skill" as I am pants at this game so I can only assume you blew yourself up ?

Now I need a stiff drink before cashing in on this bad boy.

Thanks CMDR !

Outstanding!

I'll have a drink on the strength of that later - not that I really need an excuse...

:D

Off topic: Does your bounty stay the same if you switch to a sidewinder? Can someone collect your bounty more than once if you don't pay it off?
