Every time I read more of this thread, it inspires me to log in and kill some folks.... thanks everyone...keep it going lulz!

Many poll about that already with same result : big majority is for keep mode and switch.

Eventually, the only data which are relevant in the long-run are the number of online players in total and in different modes. Unless those numbers drop significantly and, by extension, the sale figures for DLC/micro transactions, FD has not to change a thing.

You can similarly alter the state of the game world in solo/private group mode by completely bypassing other opposing players. E.g., the Rubin Vision blockade orchestrated by several players in Open mode is motivated to keep the prices to their advantage there. But solo/private groups allow to completely render those player-driven events pointless.

Offline mode meant that, if I wanted, I could just edit my save to give myself a few billion credits. Or mod the game to make missions pay a hundred times more. This is why offline and online need to be permanently apart.

As for players bypassing those player-created events, this is a good thing. It means that other players can't force their whims on me, or anyone else for what matters. Thus, it prevents players from ruining the game for everyone else.

(In case you didn't notice, player-created content is a highly divisive topic when said content comes as players trying to restrict what others can do. Some players, including many of the ones that enjoy open world free for all PvP, love it; other players, including many of the ones that don't enjoy that kind of PvP, hate when other players can prevent us from doing what we want and enjoying the game. In other words, what you see as a reason to not allow switching, many players see as a strong reason switching must be protected at all costs.)

I have no problem with a subscription if the game is good.... as it is right now, this game isn't worth a monthly fee.

I'd pay it, with bells on. I love the way this game is structured. Frontier did good, I will reward them with my business. As a matter of fact, think I'll purchase a dozen or so new paint jobs today, just to reward there very good work!

FD should allow players to choose weather they want to play Open/Group/Solo....... Once. once you've made your choice,..that is the only way you can play unless you reset. Being able to bounce between the 3 modes is lame.

See my earlier post. FD cannot change it without risking offlinegate v2.0. What you want isn't likely to happen.

totally sucks that a dedicated group cannot take over a system for their own fun and profit

Ah, well, they could... but the Federation, Imperials, or Aliiance might have something to say about that. Isn't if funny? No group can ever claim to be more powerful than the established NPC factions. Deliciously ironic i would say.

it may not be a "broken" system, but it's a poorly designed system. this p2p model , imho, is absolute rubbish.... Yes i am still playing the game,..because space mmo is what I want but EVE sucks for people that want to pilot their craft. And SC is still years away..... so yeah I am still playing,....but I am just biding time til something better comes along.

As of right now, there just isn't anything meaningful to accomplish in this game.

We are waiting with baited breath for you to release your space combat sim. When can we expect it? Will it be F2P, P2W, or Subscription based?

Star Citizen offers a higher-fidelity flight model than ED and is centered around player-driven clans for co-op PvE and PvP with a dedicated server infrastructure. The PU beta (MMO world) is scheduled end of this year.

I gave you rep for your honesty. You know that's why I think many of us continued playing EvE for so long.
There are literally a ton of things that kept players there in Eve, that are never mentioned by the PVP or the PVE Crowd.

The variety of ships, and the artistry of the universe. I had (3) titans, but I miss my trusty, “Armageddon” the most. If you’re like me, I just loved being in space! That’s the primary reason I was there. Pretty much the only reason I was there. It wasn’t for the GD PVP, even though I did it all the time, actually I could never get away from it in game. Even for just a break with friends.

Give Frontier a chance mate, they just started. Actually it’s pretty cool. IMO they have succeeded in making a much cooler universe than CCP did. It’s way more bug free than Eve was in the beginning, I know I was there in the beginning.

I like the modes and the freedom of choice. I honestly think if given a chance, this system will end up with a much happier player base. I believe the PVP will actually evolve into some of the most satisfying PVP anywhere, however it will take a bit of time to evolve.

Depends on what you consider a high fidelity flight model. Chris Roberts is known for putting fun ahead of realism every time; he is the guy that, when releasing a F16 simulator, decided to cut all speeds by half because the combat was more fun at half speed, realism be damned.

BTW, all distances and celestial bodies in Star Citizen will be scaled down for gameplay purposes.

And I'm really interested in seeing the breakdown of players in Star Citizen, when it is launched, between online, offline, and private servers. I'm a backer there, but I plan to completely ignore the official servers and keep myself to offline. Between the fact I can't stand non-consensual PvP, all the inherent advantages of offline, and the full modding support that will only be provided when not playing in the official server, I see no reason to even try the online mode. And, given that the breakdown between solo and multiplayer in the arena module is 80% playing solo, 20% playing with others, I would expect most players to not be online.
