Bounty Hunting...where?

Now, the other day i saw a post here from a guy who explained a method on how to go bounty hunting somewhere in asteroid belts or something. Back then i didnt have a ship fitted for the task, which i now do, but i dont find the post again.

something about flying to a ressoruce extraction point and then fly out and there are pirates popping up every few minutes constantly.

Does anyone know what i mean? i cant find the post for the life of me.

I can't seem to find the post, but basically, you need to look for Resource Extraction Sites in systems. These usually reside in asteroid belts orbiting planets. For instance, in Sol, you have Jupiter with 3 Resource Extraction Sites. You visit one of them and then scout for pirates. How you do that is you target each ship and see if they have a "Wanted" Status. Then you can check the left panel under "Contacts" and see how much of a bounty they have. You can also equip a Kill Warrant Scanner, which tells you if that person has bounties with different authorities. It's fun and relatively easy to get into. Just be careful, if you are just starting out and you have a modestly upgraded Viper or something along those lines, choose your targets carefully. So if you see an Anaconda, approach cautiously, and use the System Authority Vessels in the area to your advantage.

If you want to watch a Youtube video with some bounty hunting, here's one: http://youtu.be/ZeJ4ujMfHV0

I made that one a few days ago. Hope I helped a bit.

yeah, i know that part already. but the way he described it it was like....fly AWAY from the extraction points and have a constant stream of pirates popping up. i really dont remember exactly. i cant use nav beacons cause i got a pure beam weapon loadout and it doesnt help to start with a heat level of 80. thats why i wanna try that one.

You can also go to the Nav Beacon near to the jump point for each system and then follow the advice from KriosHale, above.

Beware that in Anarchy systems pirates don't have a wanted status, you need a Kill Warrant Scanner and after scanning them check in the Contact panel if they have a bounty on them.

Here another one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoSlMHnufIY
Imho you should fly to an extraction point, wait for the first enemys that appear. If there sidewinders, you will get a stream of sidewinders... if there cobras.. well you get the point.
Just fly away and rejoin the extraction point until you get the enemys you want. I think there some extraction points with a higher probability of certain enemy types.

You have to check if the planets have rings. If they do, they'll have REPs.
Go to the REP, fly around, scan everything you see (use the KWS when they have a wanted status) and look around. If you see lasers firing all around it's usually a combat between security forces and Wanteds.
Avoid picking up dropped cargo unlees you're planning on bailing out of the REP, because the security ships scan regularly (it'd be stupid to get a 10k fine for 3k salvage).

Happy hunting!

PS: do avoid stealing kills from players, it's very annoying.
