Blackhole in the DK2 :/

:eek: Holy Crap... had visited the Blackhole in Pleides, was a pretty awesome and fun experience. Just arrived Mintaka-B, a 37.5 Solar Mass Blackhole, without a doubt the most insane thing I have experienced in any game.

It is gigantic, and envelopes my Type-9, am 0.45Ls away.. despite being a 36 year old man, I have to admit it has freaked the hell outa me in the rift, the fact that the ship is making a noise like time is slowing down really doesn't help.. It's like a bad LSD trip when viewing this in the DK2

Don't think I could deal with Sagittarius A* - would likely trigger a flashback from my Mushroom day's in my early 20's! :) Mintaka should definitely be on the list for anyone wanting a crazy in game experience. I'm off to the Horse head, exploring Nebulae & ringed planets is definitely more my thing.

The black hole reminds me off my ex girlfriends random fear of sinkholes, I kinda used to laugh.. but seeing the blackhole in the DK2 gave me a weird irrational fear.

Just like to say cheers to the OP for just posting fun, interesting stuff- the amount of pointless rubbish being posted on the forums is starting to wear me down.

Question about the black holes: what happens when you get near them? Is it like a star, or can you get sucked in and destroyed?

I was out at Mintaka last weekend. It was interesting to look at on a screen, but I might just have to visit again when I visit a friend who has a Rift.

Great screenshots - looked at them in the rift - but getting there in a T9 - odd choice (not that I have one). I might just buy an Asp and get there now.

I understand what you mean though - I'm a grumpy 40 old git, but everytime I put the rift on I'm just as excited as the easily excited 11 year old who played Elite.

Hey Kirk, I know it's an odd choice but I love flying the ship. With D7 thrusters you can really start drifting it into position once you get a feel for it and get a grip on inertia. It's a challenge that I enjoy. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but my ship of choice.

Nutter posted an awesome Video but it's seems way more trippy in the rift, I think the warping follows your head movements. Anyway it was a blast :) Am going to keep on pushing on to the Horse head Nebula and then head back to civilization to a good old trade run
