Remove the watching blast doors lower game

Which is why I don't want to prevent your role play?! Why do you want to force role play?! 10 seconds adds up to hours of time, which it has for me.

You still haven't explained in a role play way why large pads do make you wait? Simple truth is it make no sense and isn't even consistent, hard to roleplay when it's not even consistent or logical.

So why would you care if it was removed? Same time either way for you?
You ever think they added this so they could load info to the game so they use what they have to hide this? Oh we would really love to see this load screen.

As you can see there could be a reason for it.

Umm large pads don't do it, so it's obviously not a load screen, which I said a few post back, are you reading them?

Yes I have been reading them. We have one person that unwilling to listen ideas. trying to shave time off his trade runs and 10 seconds is not a death sentence.

So your idea is it's a load screen that only medium pads need, how does this make sense?

I seen the small and large pad take the same amount time. So I believe your wrong on that one. Note I was running on a 4 old year old laptop.

No I just went from my Asp to Type 7 at the same stations on the same hardware. Medium pad = wait for blast shields, Large pad = no wait. If you where reading the post in this thread you would have known others reported this behavior, not just me.

Note if you go into hangar it makes you wait even on large, if you stay on surface, hit launch, you go down, spin and come up with the shields already down saving the 10 seconds, but on medium they are up and make you wait.

Why don't we remove every animation. No hanger decent, no nothing. Sounds like fun. And would speed up time considerely. Remove the cockpit aswell. Make fuel scoops instafills and unlimited ammo. No waiting time and tedious re-arming. 50k jump range for all fsd's. Man, I'm on a roll! The ideas are just rolling in! Help me brainstorm, guys. Uhh, let's see...oh oh...every character starts with a billion creds. Anything else?

You can just change your routine to take into account that return to surface happily brings down the shields while you do anything except outfitting. It took me a bit of time to adapt to the knowledge. But after a while it becomes second nature and problem is no longer there.

Here we go again, not asking for any of that, just want to remove the wait on medium pads, since the other ones don't make you wait, got enough hyperbole? Stay focused please.

Or just get a large ship.

I didn't notice any change in time from Cobra to Asp. It takes the same amount of time for small and medium on my system.

Question Major Lag what your computer spec.

i7 3.5GHZ, 16 gigs ram, SSD, nVidia 580GTX

I don't remember that either, it's been some time, it was reported here though: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=98533&p=1626658&viewfull=1#post1626658

Definitely does not occur with large pads. I may grab a sidewinder to test small pads.

That a pretty high end setup. Not my laptop a Alienware M17x r2. 1.6ghz With 8gb ram, Dual ati 5870 crossfire. Now launch time was the same from small medium to large ships for me. Internet not the best living out in the Mountains.

It might change with the Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.50GHz, 8GB DDR3L Memory, 1TB HDD, 8GB SSHD, External DVDRW, 17.3" Touchscreen, 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M, Windows 8.1 64-bit. With a few tweak and upgrades.

Upgrading Ram to 16gb and a Dual 1tb SSD drive in a Raid. Upgrade to Windows 10 and move the game to a Ram disk.

Why don't we remove every animation.

There are indeed a couple of animations in the game that make no sense and should be removed. The blast shields serve no purpose They would if the the landing pads were not for vertical landing and lift-off, but they are. Also: On outposts, there is no apparent need for the landing pad to rotate before it lets you lift off again. That's just the same animation from the coriolis starport, and there it actually makes sense, because they want you to face the exit opening. On an outpost, there is no opening. The landing pads are out in the open. And since you lift off vertically, they don't need to turn you around for that. Let alone move some useless blast shields that serve no purpose anyway.

You see, for some of us roleplayers, such things are really immersion-breaking, because we cannot suspend our disbelief as much as you can. If something doesn't make sense, AND also takes away from our time that we are actually able to PLAY the game (and not watch something utterly uninteresting happen in the game), we tend to dislike that.

How do you know it not there to load up part of the game.

Still makes no sense, why does large pad have no load time why medium does for me? Why do medium pads take more time to load. I am programmer, am I am 99% sure this is not a load process, it has no variable time, it is always the same exact time and is not necessary only due to the pad size. The animation is locked into a single variable, pad size.

Fair enough. I was pretty harsh. Just had an overload with 'ease-up-on-experience' - threads lately. My apologies.

Yes my thought exactly. I like good sci-fi/fantasy fiction, but things need to have internal consistency, they need to make sense even if we are talking about magic or future technology. If they don't work together properly it comes off as sloppy and wastes my time. The other one currently bothering me is shield mechanics, but that is a whole other can of worms.

Just chiming in to support either doing away with lower blast shields completely or decreasing the time it takes for medium pads to lower. I didn't mind in my cobra but once I hoped in my asp I couldn't believe how long they took.
