On behalf of pirates everywhere...

Am I suppose to laugh or is this for real?

I am a pirate, but I am a honest prirate (notice the word RAT in Pirate) if you refuse to give me cargo I do not kill you..., blar blar blar rubbish....

Look at the end of the day you are a self confessed PKer and a member of the PK Squad. It does not matter is you believe that you only attack people and take their hard earned cargo you still attack and kill them if they refuse.
You may think there is a difference but clearly you cannot see how you can upset other players, you take pleasure in taking cargo from other players, and if they do not relinquish cargo you do not let them go, no you kill them.

Personally I love pirates, I have a nice collection of bounties mounting up from player killers. Pirates attack ships to steal cargo, and some just kill ships for fun. A Pirate is a Pirate get use to it..

At least now we have another name to add to the list of PK Squad members.

Actually, you don't. I've never had to fire a shot yet.

Please, stop associating us with the kind of people who derive pleasure from other peoples misery.

Somebody interdicts you, they scan you, they tell you to surrender cargo. <- That is a pirate.

Somebody interdicts you, they open fire immediately, they destroy you without a word. <- That is NOT a pirate. I'll leave it to you to decide what it is they are, but they are not pirates.

I hope that clears things up.

Wrong! A pirate is anyone looking to acquire commodities from another via the threat of violence. If a pirate chooses to engage without comms, they are still a pirate. Pirates don't ask or beg for loot they don't own, so I find it incredibly that some chose to do so in ED. This is some lame etiquette some on ED are perpetuating. All pirates are scum and I treat them the same: with hardpoints deployed.

LOL
We are talking human piracy here, not robbing dumb NPCs... And you forget your ASP cursed hull bill so in reality it's more like -100k-0/hr.

I beg to differ... i have never once touched an NPC trader. All that comes from pirating PC traders and is AFTER repairs / rearmament. Tho the income is dependent on a lot of factors that i have no real control over... If a make 1m credits a gaming session, that is what i consider a good evening.

And for the hulldamage / wear and tear: there are ways to reduce it greatly...

I do a bit of pirating and never open fire before I scan the target and see if they have anything worth taking. Half of the time the stuff they have isn't worth taking so I just let them go.
I hate griefers who just want to kill others for "fun?" No fun for the poor sod who loses everything for no reason.

No, it's not for any reason. If a poor sod is in the wrong place, without the appropriate resources to defend themselves, that's their problem. Why anyone would put themselves in a situation that jeapordizes their ship and cargo is beyond me. It's Dangerous out there.

im a pirate sometimes myself ;-)
.
thats my introducing..
This is a Robbery, stay cool,STOP YOUR SHIP and drop 8 ton of your cargo! OR Pay the consequence !
.
i dont have a cargo scanner, since you directly see who is playing the game and who is just a bot flying from station to station..
.
since i pirate, there where roughly 5 different reactions, i list them with % of what i saw :
.
1. the bot.. you interdict, you telling your nice words to him and you already see him boooosting away, not even try to communicate since its 8!!! cargo (90%)
2. the person, he stops the ship, greets you and drop 8 of his cargo, you tell him nice to meet you and promise him to have free passage in future, lets see how long i recognize the name ;-) (2%)
3. the late understander, he decides after a few shots to cry : STOP! you stop in hope he is understanding ( he think hes smart and winning time, as soon his fsd is ready he boost and is away, thats what he thinks ) he dies in the 2. or 3. interception ;-) (4%)
4. the flamer.. he boost and try to get away and flames you as idiot and dumb brick etc etc.. (1%)
5. the fighter... he takes the situation as a challange, want to see if hes a good pilot (mostly cobra pilots and once an asp drove me off the field was insane dmg income) (3%)
.
and to be fair, i intercept not only weak targets.. ASP, Cobras, Clippers..
.
i use normally a cobra with 2 med rails and 2 seeker missle to just make the point clear, i need 5-10sec for you not more ;-)
.
on the viper it is 2 med pulse fixed and 2 gimb cannons.. here as long the trader has shields with a shieldboost, you often fail to bring a good statement.
.
but i think it makes the game more dangerous.. its ELITE : !!!Dangerous!!! so a bit dangerous interaction even if it cost you a million or 2, for me its welcome, i hope i get interdicted once, so I can drop some cargo ;-)

Anyone that takes my cargo from me by force is still some lazy pilot that wants the easy way. So you get nothing. Not now, not never. Pirating is wrong anyway you slice it. Your labels like another said is pointless since you all are the same thing.

So prepared to see the back of my ship as it flies off. Or the front of my weapons as they fire back at you. I will never submit. I will never surrender. I will never give you my cargo.

This is exactly why i started shoot other commanders without say something and just destroy their drive or sensors.. so they can happily self destruct .

i started with this :
1 interdiction
2 " this is a robbery drop 4 tons of your cargo and your free to go"
the answer normaly was:
"no"
"never"
"<sniped> you"
.. no answer at all just an afterburner kicking in
3 i killed them
4 last words of the trader normaly
"<sniped> griefer

i don´t grief you its my art of play if you don´t want to take part in in please don´t cry if i kill you or let you floating there ...

Like a trader flying a freighter? It's actually only dangerous for the trader. It's perfectly safe for the pirate. Well, yea. There's the couple of minutes before they get to clear a bounty when a fair fight might break out, but we're always being told how easy it is to FSD out so i guess not even then.

Two things here,

1. Pirates who play the real game (ask, receive, let go) are part of the Game. It the player chooses to fight back or run, it's then down to being able to back up the threat.

But the Game encourages a degree of PVP with;

2. Bulletin board missions saying 'Kill x number traders or some-such'. It does not say 'Kill x number NPCs' so if you happen to the the unlucky party met as part of this mission you can expect the other player to attack you. - Complaint - flag it to FDEV, they wrote the missions...

Why would you want to complain about a legitimate and perfectly reasonable (for the Elite universe) game play mechanic....

If the mission is to kill traders then they will kill traders... NPC or Human, it makes no difference whatsoevr in the game they are simply other ships...There is nothing to complain about here

where do you operate, so I can come along and play with your smashed up ship?

OP, why did you feel like you needed to try to clarify something like this? If people can't understand before your post, they aren't going to understand or care after it either, like they are proving and have proven in many other posts on the same matter. All you've really done here is build another platform for people to whine on.

The simple solution is to not play on Open. You don't get to play with or around other people and then complain about what they do to you or around you when it's within the rules and lore of a Space Simulation style game. Just don't forget, even if you play solo, NPC pirates exist. Any lack of Pirates affects Bounty Hunters as well. Figure out how to deal with it people, please.

tell me where you operate and i come and robb you ;-)

since i have several regions where i sometimes trade and do missions as well.. the pvp has to be financed ;-)

Thats easy, I mostly do Lave, Diso and low security systems around there. Look out for an Asp which has no cargo. I love it when Pirates say stuff like I want to scan your cargo and end up with a face full of dumb missiles.

Yeah exactly. It's not average profit per hour. I tried ASP, even bought that stupid pirate skin for it and then just sold it. Pirating in ASP is a total nonsense.

The more you pirate in a system, the more law interdictions you get (shields have to go down for that limpet, that's a bounty albeit minor) potentially ruining your own attempt to interdict a trader. People will almost never give you cargo willingly. Many of traders will logoff on you while you are performing scan/negotiate. Just ask Tigga... he was kind enough to provide me with his longass list of traders exploiting logoff so I can missile+rails them down before they can do it. 90% of them abusing short 15s timer.

The more... the less human traders. [redacted]. And to make some decent cash you need both well populated sector AND sector attractive for trading (palladium, gold, hi-tech stuff...). I doubt you have a map of potentially expoitable rich sectors packed with human traders so you can alternate between them.

And ofc, you can selfdestruct to reduce the w+t bill. Or you can ignore it completely and risk it at fight with human.

I love piratty pirates where you have a little chat, in an RP kind of way. Funky stuff. What I don't get at all is players which are like flies - they interdict you, you submit, boost, jump - then they do it again. Over and over, following you around. No idea how long it takes them to realise that there's no point what-so-ever in this. It's not particularly annoying, it slows down your trade run by about 15 seconds (oh the humanity), it doesn't cause me any damage or expense. It's figuratively just like having a small fruit fly land on your eyelid which you blink away. Utterly pointless :D

The only thing which makes me sad is I've logged out now, which this Viper will probably take as victory when in fact it's just that I'm about to have dinner ;)

Please do not use abusive terms like the one you have towards players in this game. The mods may not do anything but it clearly shows people the kind of person you are.

Kindly don't read my posts if you don't like my language. Solved. You can find opening positions for mods somewhere else I am sure. Or shoot them some submissive enough private message, they just might hire you.
