I now know why the game sometimes doesn't award bounty claims and how to avoid it

Long story short: if you k-scan a ship to reveal bounties, and then k-scan again but don't complete it (by mistake, like just tapping the scan button without noticing), you lose the bounty:

So the solution for now is to be careful not to push the scan button again after having completed a scan.

There also seems to be a bug where both cargo and k-warrant scanning on the same trigger button will cause the kws to not actually be processed.

Even the local one?
I do scan partially a second time now and then, but never noticed losing a complete bounty.
Unless, like last night, when I justt destroy a powerplant with lots of NPCs also around (There went a nice 184k :( )

You will never lose the local bounty, only the bounty given from kws. Of course, if you hunt Anarchy, there is no local bounty to be had.

WHAT?! Do you mean that the Kill Warrant scanner just isn't activated or that it's activated but it doesn't work (so I think it scanned and no bounty showed but in actuality it didn't)?

My KWS is on a separate firegroup so it is almost impossible for me to rescan and have never had an issue with missing bounties so you may be on to something

This may very well be a part of the cause. I usually do both kw-scan and the cargo scan simultanously, and I seem to lose all the kw-confirmed bounties in the anarchies.

Any idea as to whether this is the case with the Discovery Scanner and Frame Wake Shift Scanner as well, or just the Cargo Scanner?

I've noticed that the NPC tends to say something along the lines of "I'll return" shortly before dieing when this happens. It's almost as though the game kind of thinks they've just jumped out even though they haven't.

It doesn't happen too often but I've certainly had it happen enough times to recall it reasonably clearly now.

Yeah, I submitted an issue on this back in beta, and it's been 'under investigation' ever since.
