I cannot play that game without beeing a trader

because i can not solve missions like to progress in ranks. i can not win against enemys like empire clipper to progress rank from master to next rank. i cant find ingame nothing who tell me how to fight against enemys who overpowered against a trader, i am a trader, not a fighter, how to fight against a imba enemy. i cant solve training missian against a sidewinder, i cant target him correct with hotas, but he can fire on any direction to me and endless. why i have to do missions as a fighterpilot but i am only a trader. what the chicken do Mr. Braben think, only Fighterpilots can do a favour to a empire and not trader only with trading or finding routes or find things to do ranks as good as fighter does. why not trader missions only for traders and fighter missions for fighters. In real world, traders rules, and not military. You shall rearange the missions so anybody can fullfill his rule.

I'm not sure I fully understand, but if I get your meaning...

There are trader missions. "deliver x to y in 3 hours", for example.

You don't ever have to take a combat mission if you don't want to.

Traders make far more money than anyone else, so if all else fails buy torpedos for your trading ship and kill things with one button.

I'm a Baron in the Empire through trade alone. It's doable.

I don't get what you are saying. The only missions I have seen to increase in rank have ALL been trade missions. I haven't seen a single combat mission to increase one's rank. You can't advance in Elite WITHOUT being a trader. Hence why I am allied and the lowest possible rank. I don't trade.

nope that changed i could not progress without doing a kill mission

'imba'. I'm absolutely certain that 'word' doesn't mean what you think it means. Fighters are not 'overpowered compared to traders', fighters are supposed to be stronger than a freighter. Fighters fight, freighters haul junk.

Instead of complaining because you don't have an iWin button in your sidewinder, learn how to play properly.

The Navy want people who are able to fight, but there are plenty of people who want the help of traders. Progress in the navies is kind of empty anyway at the moment, it is far from the only way to progress in this game.

Are you complaining that utterly stupid NAVY rank progression not being completely idiotic?
It is NAVY not FedEx.

The one big bugbear I have with ranking up in the empire is all of the naval ascension missions are generally illegal, at least to start with, for example if i station needs personal weapons they are nearly always prohibited in that system and i'm gun shy of going silent to get through the security. any tips?

So you want to be able to progress in the NAVY without having to do any fighting? think your in the wrong career.

It's the Spartan way. In Sparta kids were left without any food and they had to either starve or steal their food. Stealing wasn't illegal or wrong in itself, getting caught was. That's how they trained their future soldiers

Only the first few rank missions are trade/smuggle oriented. They become much easier and quicker to do once you get past the third rank or so, as it starts throwing combat-killing and black-ops-assassin missions at you.

I didn't have a cargo hold in my first few ships after the Sidewinder, so it was a real struggle to get that first rank or two (as in, gimp your fighter to buy a cargo hold for a while and then keep going back to a specific station or two that sells X and can also provide "give us X" missions until you get lucky), but the rank progression becomes insanely fast once you get past that stupid early barrier that demands you be a trader before joining the military.
