Nav Beacons vs Extraction Points

I fancied a bit of bounty hunting on friday evening, so I spent around an hour or so milling around Extraction Points killing npcs. I earned around 40k. On Saturday evening, I spent around half-an-hour hunting around a Nav Beacon and earned 75k, plus I picked up some nice cargo. It got me thinking; are Nav Beacons more lucrative for bounty hunters compared to Extraction Points? I realise the amount of time I spent in the two locations over the weekend is nothing to go on; I just thought there might be a general consensus. Also, having hunted at both types of location, I've also noticed that the NPCs at Extraction Points don't tend to drop any cargo.

Thoughts?

My experience is that it's massively varied.
The benefits to the extraction points would be the increased fun factor potential of being splatted by a space rock. If you like that sort of thing.

Extraction points give the benefit of cover - if there is an all out assault on you, because you just picked on an Anaconda, and didn't realise he had 3 buddies in Vipers, it gives you somewhere to hide and recover

Z...

If you find interdiction boring (and I do) extraction sites free you from the need to do that. There are no repair bills (so long as you don't fly into a rock) and the view is usually pretty nice.

I've tried both and I feel I get more at Nav beacons, due to the constant flow of pirates coming through. I don't interdict though, I come out of SC and hang around close to the beacon, and scan everything that comes along.

To me Nav beacons are boring, RESs are fun (space rocks, pun intended), so I tend to visit the latter and avoid the former. Oh and the NPCs at RESs do drop cargo, if they are carrying any. I've yet to discover the right sacrifice to place on the altar of the RNG gods to get Pythons/Anacondas in my instances, but even with just Sideys/Cobras I'd say the average is about 150-200k/h.

I recently moved from NAV to RES and I am making a lot more at a RES.
At NAV's I could sometimes just sit and wait for wanted targets, but at RES I almost move from target to target seamlessly.

I tried res but never found one without authorities, even in anarchy. If I ever find one in authority-less anarchy I'll give it a try. But there are too many NPCs just mining, so it's annoying picking out the pirates.

My experience is nav beacons are faster. Less faff. But I can see why some prefer res.

When you find out what the gods need can you let me know? I've had anacondas just once in a res and despite entering/exiting constantly for over 3 hours the other night I could not get to fight anything bigger than a cobra and it is most annoying :)

Please hunt in RES, I like to think there are a good number of BH who may come and help out when i'm getting mugged for my freshly mined cargo by some lazy pirate!

I was a big fan of RES in Beta but since Gamma/Full release i've not found a good one near my current location so currently i use a Nav Beacon in an anarchy system. Advantage with a Nav Beacon is they're quicker to get to, they're usually less than 10ls from the jump in spot.

Extraction points, hands down. You have to shop around a bit to find one that continually spawns anacondas, but when you do you hit the jackpot (average 350k per run - plus killscan money)

Even the "medium intensity" extraction points that spawn only cobras will give you 200k per run.

1 run = 1 trip to station and back to reload ammo.

Equipment: Cobra or Viper with good shields, powerplant, distributor and 4 multoicannons (gimballed or not makes no difference in my experience - fixed delivers more damage but misses more bullets, so it averages out)

Or you can just go for 4 pulse lasers and keep slaying cobras as long as you can stand it (its a tough loadout for anacondas, tho).
But I find there's just something visceral about multiguns :D

I've always made more money at NAVs, albeit they certainly aren't as fun as REPs. Also REPs are heavily populated with miners, and that's a lot of time lost scanning worthless targets to me. But then, NAVs tend to have more players.

RES have more targets, but in my experience are weaker targets - Sidewinders mostly. Nav points offer fewer but juicer targets.

Reload the RES if you get Sidewinders.
I had a RES with only 'Conda's yesterday.
Unfortunately I messed up and hit a fed so I had to run out, and couldn't get it to load 'Conda's again.

Settled for Cobra's. Still 12-15k on average and could pretty much go target to target in my brand new shiny Asp.
