Being shot at and killed at Leesti in George Lucas for no reason

Well, I must admit that I have had thoughts of shooting the commanders who insist on reserving the only mid-sized docking bay at the outposts. Now, as I know that this is possible (destroying a ship on the launch pad), so I might just unload my lazors on those selfish loiterers.

I hope you are joking... the station doles out landing spots, not the CMDR

If they're outside the no fire zone, they don't get the fine.

If the missile never hits anything, they don't get any bounty

I really hope FDev will do the right thing here - permanent ban for every player who got more than 5 players killed using this exploit.

It was so obvious this would happen in one form or another. Hence why I am playing solo mode until this all gets sorted out in the next 6 months.
Shame really, as ED will loose a lot of players and gain a gankers reputation whether it is deserved or not.

I don't see FD getting bad or good rep from it, its the players who are doing the acts. FD's still hardcore developing the game, it may have "launched" but it still feels only about 60% completed. They are putting their time into finishing the game with the content it needs.

It's only an exploit of the station's rules of engagement. PDTs are weapons and shooting the station with them results in retaliatory fire.

This is neither unforeseeable, nor uncounterable.

It's been happening forever.

The first and only time I was shot down by a station due to my PDT fire was in Beta 1 or 2.

Turn off your PDTs if you are within 3km of a station and have them oriented where their fire could possible strike the station.

FD could extend the no-fire zone out to 50km, and that it sends a signal that disables weapons from firing and forces your pods to stay retracted. (The local security, no matter how present, is useless)

People will leave open for solo, the word spreads as all bad news does and before long ED will be known as that game that has all the griefers in it that will bankrupt new players in an instant with no recourse.

Whether it is intended, greifing, idiocy or anything else, it is happening and happening a lot, just look at the forums, and there will be consequences because of it. As to how big these consequences are, well that is another debate.

Either way, players are leaving Open play in droves, which is FD's flagship and that is not good for the game or business.

I am one of those pilots..
This morning I lost two ASP in this way .

- 4 million CR

I asked for the ban that CMDR.

I want to believe that this time the developers take serious action.

There's 2 of them.
By the way - I had an interesting chat with one of them - he claimed that he was being paid by un-named sources to disrupt trade at Leesti. Which certainly puts a new slant on it. Either way - it could be resolved by having (much!) larger fines for assault and murder.

Also perhaps some form of restitution for unprovoked attack? Victim surcharge kinda thang?

Not joking but I thought you misunderstood my point. Yes, the station assigns the landing pads, but the players insist to keep themselves landed there. For example there was an asp sitting for an extended period of time like a unanimated duck on the pad, not moving, not giving way, just sitting there minute after minute until I got bored and flew away. But it was my honest thought to shoot that commander for keeping the pad reserved for no apparent reason.

I mean, if I dock, it takes like couple of minutes to do my things in the station / outpost and then be on my way, allowing the next CMDR to dock. Of course, there might be some RL issues that somebody needs to leave the game on and the ship sitting on the pad. Or the pilot may be plotting the course to some specific starsystem, which may take time. However, as this kind of "pad reserving" seems to be quite common on the popular outposts, it seems as if it would be another tactic to annoy your fellow CMDRs. For the reason, I rarely nowadays use outpost services unless I am forced to.

Ah yes I did misunderstand. By all means, stay only as long as you must and get going to free up the pad! Also agree, I cringe every time I need to visit an outpost.

If this would really be the case (where I think it as an excuse), they should be firing the NPCs aswell. And there should be other ways "to disturb" the trade.

Just to remind people, remember to take down the name of the CMDR(s) who you don't want to see in-game again and block them. From the game manual:

"When you block a player, not only do you not receive any further communications from them, you also strongly decrease the chance of meeting them again when entering or exiting super cruise, arriving from a hyperspace jump or flying in normal space."

Personally, I think that the devs should endeavor to perfect the in-game "justice system" so that it could be used as the primary means of punishing troublemakers in an effective way (instead of resorting to game bans, if possible). After all, that's what the purpose of its existence is kinda supposed to be.
