[FDEV] When is a system at war not a system at war?

So today I came across this little mission that was pernicious to my game play today:

WkaQGI6.jpg

So I got to the system, fly around for a bit - and nothing.

Yet the system seems to indicate it should be at war just now:

I would raise this as a ticket, but at the moment I have 4 sitting there that haven't even been looked at yet so my hopes are higher that maybe someone from FDEV might see this in passing and look at it. It appears another part of the background simulation may be broken.

Good luck. Not to be a smart alec but, I believe the entire "background simulation" is broke and has been since the "release". Could be why "community events" are hastily being interjected as manually controlled "events" may be the only thing that could be called "working"? IDK but, I do give you kudos for trying to bring another background simulation failing to FD's attention.

Does that last image show 100% influence for the hiring party? If so that doesnt really make sense? maybe worth a ticket

I have tickets from before Christmas still sitting as new, and no response to posts in the support forum. I'm rapidly giving up hope that they might be dealt with.

The hiring party was actually Empire Party in Facece, since I was given a permit to go there - I was hoping maybe doing some missions might make something happen there.

As it is, I've had to abandon the mission and take the rep hit (probably all the rep I've earned this evening)

I just picked up the virtually the exact same mission in the same system (Vequess). And came to the same conclusion you did.

As I had no tickets in queue, I've just submitted one for this problem. Given the civil war is between two low influence factions without a station in system, either the game needs to generate warzones without a relevant station nearby, or it needs to not give out these warzone missions when there is no warzones present in system.

Slightly annoying when you're trying to build up Imperial reputation.

hmmmm i've heard of conflict zones not showing up if more then a 1000ls away, but given the system isn't that wide there, i'm not sure, seems strange, did you try flying to cuffey orb to see if anything appeared further on? may have been a bug that they spawned further out and not logically close to stations/planets? still, seems bugged/broken.

I don't think it's completely broke. It's overly complicated with bunch of sliders generating pre-set events in certain positions. But, since the exact positioning of sliders needed to generate specific event is unknown, it's highly unlikely that anyone will be able to generate consistent results without complete info from the HQ and/or months of testing. Even if one figures out the exact positioning needed, the numbers behind some of them are hidden (wealth, standard of living, etc.), so, it won't work any way you twist it, until the numbers and their interconnections are "revealed".

All in all it's a shallow system and wouldn't interest me too much even if it was completely functional. A gamey/arcadey substitute for a real economy.

Oh, and "community events"... deliver 10 mil tonnes of grain and you get a medal.

Yes as you say it's not a big system - I flew well within 1Ls of everything in the system, went in USS just in case and tried the Nav Beacon too.

I had the same. Got the mission, flew there and no Warzones around. Had to abandon it, didn't really hurt me much except the faction loss :/

But in general after the last Patch I see many Warzones pop up in Systems. And so I spent some time in Kutjalangai fighting for an Empire Faction "Kutjalangai Dynamic Industry" in the hope of getting some Reputation back... but after like 180k combat bonds it doesn't seem to give me any faction... :(

bah - wish I'd seen this thread last night....i've just picked up the same mission :(

I hate taking a rep hit when its not my fault <sulks>

EDIT: ticketed

Well it appears the warzones in Summerland are also broken.

So as you can see from the system, it should be at war:

Yet when I turn up in the conflict zones, all that appear are System Defense Forces

And there is no faction selection

I think for now I might just go back to grindy trading, all this part of the game seems broken

Right, well Summerland appears to have flipped back to "Seeking Luxuries" which might explain it (I noticed it a couple of hours ago actually, just forgot to update this).

It appears there is a lag between the system flipping over and the event instances it creates - basically they seem to get orphaned until such time as they switch over to the other type of event.

The summerland faction screen shows boom for a few factions there is no civil war shown on it. Do either of the factions in the first set own a station? Civil wars are over station control if neither control a station there may not be any conflict zones because of this.

Well I'm sure Michael and others will shift those hypothesized 'sliders'; but don't expect to get the 'complete info'. The games 'black box' will be in effect.

We don't touch any sliders except to support specific story events - th egalaxy is way to big to be doing it manually.

Venquess does have a civil war, however the parties involved have very low influence values, so I wonder if that's having an effect. STick the ticket in if you haven't already and we can take a look.

It looks like the civil war in Summerland has ended.

I would but I still have a ticket from 31/12/2014 sitting at New, and I've moved on from this. I brought it to your attention here.

What I will do is create a ticket and link to this thread instead.
