Best FOV?

Okay, so I play on a 42" Bravia. Anyone with suggestions for best FOV for this size display. I find often that when maneuvering quite a bit of my HUD vanishes off screen.

Not sure the size of your tv makes any difference? It's still a 1920x1080p screen size.

I will say that I wish they'd actually LABEL the slider so we know what FOV we set the slider at. Annoying when devs don't have a label for FOV.

I recommend editing %localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\Settings.xml file for FoV because optimal value for me was above maximum of the slider.

well, it's a big screen, so its possible to squeeze more peripheral vision from the FoV if you sit close enough.

I was just going to search for this topic, as I was wondering myself how to stop the sensors and power distribution indicator from being obscured while turning. Then its right there in the forum. Spooky.

yeah, is half the radar, power distrib I loose all the time.

I edited the file back and forth and came to the conclusion that 65 was best.
(+5 more then the slider.)

Open file, path to which I posted in my previous post (you can copy and paste the path into file explorer) and set FOV section to something like 75.

just try different settings to what suits you best depending on how far away you sit from the TV.

The slider doesn't go near far enough.

I use just a little more the slider - 63, so that I don't lose sight of my hud during high-g manoeuvres, but you can experiment to find a setting that suits you.

Cut and paste this folder link ' %localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics ' into your folder explorer, then use notepad to edit 'settings.xml'

The line you're looking for is about halfway down: <FOV>63</FOV>

+1 to that, I have a Samsung 40" TV and just tried with 68, it feels so damn right.

Thanks for that! I'm playing on a 1080p laptop and the max still feels too narrow. I was using the acceleration trick to get the cockpit to recede a bit further for screenshots.
