Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

So what exactly have these CMDRs who shall not be named been up to?

I saw one of them and ran full speed ahead to my destination with my Adder full of fish

Then I calmed down and promised myself I'd engage them on Comms next time I saw them. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately I had no further sightings :D

So what's with the warning?

was interdicted and fired on by <snip> in eagle, immediately followed by attempted interdiction by <snip> ( no spaces but the forms wont let me type the name) in viper. <snip> in asp was also behind them but did not have a chance to engage. Although he may not have been part of gang.. I doubt it.

After update allows people to "fleet up" and get into combat together we could see a lot more use of the eagle as a "tackle ship" interdicting you and a slower heavy armed ship destroying targets (solo players) if they stay in system and continue to show teamwork they may be a threat that we need to seriously take action on or prepare for.

I suggest practicing evasive maneuvers like looping up and breaking followed by exiting super-cruse and engaging silent running, breaking any chance of enemy fleet interdiction.

I haven't done this in a long time but if you unselect your destination and get to drop speed if you hit the drop button at 100km out you end up about 50 km out, 75km is about 25 etc. You can then kill everything and cruise in silent without anyone seeing you drop in. It's how I check combat zones for other cmdrs since I play ironman. It takes a bit of practice do get it just right and you are more vulnerable in sc.

It hasn't been necessary since they moved the drop closer but in a situation where your enemy doesn't care about station security it should work.

Hostile in system, Cmdr <snip> in eagle, <snip> in viper and <snip> in asp

Thanks nightstorm, sorry I can't stay and fight... kids got home. Bad timing

I'm afraid you are mistake m8 and should know what your talking about before you start calling others hostile.

I have been in Lugh since early December and have no reason to be hostile to anyone fighting for the same cause as myself.
Tonight i was in my viper looking out for pirates attacking our traders. I came across an interdiction attempt on CMDR Tailonyx by CMDR <snip>, I had no wake scanner so waited and interdicted <snip> in his eagle.
I believe it was CMDR dirtyfecker in the asp and he seemed to be trading as he was clean everytime i seen him jump to the system.

I was working all night and seen this eagle you are talking about and chased him down before he jumped. I think you are jumping to conclusions. The Asp you speak of is one of us... :)

@Michael Regarding cooldown & "one faction, one state":
How is any expansion for a major faction going to work?

As it seems this can only be achieved by expanding mutiple factions.
As it is, every expansion will come to a natural halt due to the "one state" restriction. Every empire building effort can easily be torpedoed by triggering civil wars or Booms in another system with the minor faction affected.

I'd really prefer if the state and cooldown was managed in an n:n intersection entity between minor faction and system, and not at the minor faction entity. This way the "British East India Company" could have a Boom in London, face a Lockdown in Goa, and have a Civil War in Madras.

As it is right now, they'd never get to Madras, because they'd always be in some kind of state or cooldown from another place.

Minor factions were never meant to expand into more than 2 systems would be the obvious conclusion. To change it would need them to b 600ecome like the 3 major factions ( with expansion this could be done) the big 3 already vastly outnumber the smaller guys, but with so much space to colonise etc why cant we have major minor factions spanning anywhere from 3-500 systems. Especially with colonisaiton and the 3 major groups already have a sizeable advantage anyway, including wealth and so forth.

If you don't mind guys, can you keep the expasion discussion to a different thread? It is off topic here.

Lets test this persistant universe and see if FD are true to their word.

I do believe expansion is part of a persistant universe as per the original title of this thread seems pretty on topic to me

You know quite well what I am getting at. You persistantly come onto this thread trying to derail it. You are running your own test and your own thread. Why do you feel the need to keep coming in here upsetting what we are doing? Go and do your own thing if that is what is so important to you.

This is the "test the background simulation" thread. Expansion is part of the background simulation, whether you like it or not.

If you want it to be something else, you might want to contact a moderator, move it into "Groups", rename it to "[Independent] Lugh Freedom Fighters", and I will never again post anything about states, factions, cooldowns, expansion or whatever in this thread.

That is not what this is about Flin. I have explained to ollobrains what this thread is about many times and he just keeps pushing this expansion thing. I have remained quiet up until now but at this stage I have had enough. He is running his own test and frustrated with the fact that he wants to run an expansion experiment has tried pushing it here on this thread despite the fact that he has been told several times that that is not what this thread (storyline is about). Not content to run his own thing he has actively being trying to derail this because it does not suit his agenda. It is a free world and he is quite capable of doing his own thing as am I and I respect his thread and what he is attempting to do and feel others should afford me the same liberty. But he does not seem content with that and now is actively trying to poach people off this thread for his own with a number of posts to that effect.

Why does he feel the need to keep coming in here and doing this? We have put countless hours into this including effort and organisation but he feels it is OK to to come in and mess that up because it suits him?

So if there is anyone who wants to run an expansionist experiment go and join ollobrains thread. As I have said many times already that is not what this thread is about.

On a lighter note...

When you nearly have enough credits to buy an asp and have a T6 full of Progenator cells, don't fly through Balandin Gateway doors without first having remembered to request docking permissions.

It's expensive.

On the plus side, I did managed to make it just outside the doors again before the station's single shot turned me to ash (probably in a Tom & Jerry style).

Oh, how the air turned blue!

Looks like I'll have to wait another couple of days to get my asp now!

Sorry to hear that Brindarm I am constantly forgetting to ask for permission but have perfected the escape... What I do is put my landing gear down before I go in. I always use thrusters only while docking. This retards your speed and if you forget permission you then imediately pull up your landing gear and put the ship in full reverse. This leaves you plenty of time to get out but you still end up with a 500cr fine.

It doesn't seem to matter how many times I forget. I never seem to learn my lesson... :)

I'm sure we can all pitch in and give you a few quid. To help you out. we can arrange a cargo transfer.

I didn't mean you. Sorry, I was rushing out to work when I typed that. I meant the original post on this subject. There are a lot of players flying around out there that I do not recognise and some of them are helping us. Others I am not so sure about... But if you travel to the surrounding systems you will see lots of players too. In the begining there was nobody in this part of space but me but now it seems highly populated with players. Some of them might be innocent passers through. There are some nasties out there too though!

come to pand then

Off Topic

I wasnt in Lugh yesterday but when i came across this i had to giggle :)

Number 5.

PS: If its not allowed to post such sreens then sorry i will delete it asap.

Btw thats not me.

Oh no, thanks for the offer, but it was my own incompetence, so I'll sort it. Just thought I'd share a face-palm moment with you all.

In my cobra I can normally get out quick enough when I forget to request permission. The T6 though isn't quite so willing to turn around and speed up...

I'm just glad there were no commanders around when I did it :)

Although I'm sure I detected some sarcasm when I got back to Balandin and got the message "welcome, trusted ally..." There may even have been sniggering in the background. Or I'm paranoid...
