Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

Artificial limits are junk.

Artificial limits are absolutely necessary when you have a complex feedback system that hasn't been stress-tested. Once they've figured out the consequences of the system that they have designed, they can gradually replace the artificial hard limits with dynamic factors, but what they don't want, for example, is some kind of accidental domino effect that sees the entire Federation collapse unexpectedly due to an unforeseen consequence of the mechanics.

Fixed that for you.

EDIT: Sorry, but I am rather angry about the 26 days cooldown and "One Faction, One State" news.
It just feels like having put spokes in our wheels just because "some reason".

So no matter how many thousands of people try to work on achieving something in a system, it won't work because of those two reasons.

I noticed your frustration in a few threads now. Maybe FD doesn't want the players to easily "capture" systems for their factions of choice in a few days? I agree that some things need to be adjusted (like the display for which state is actual at cooldown and which are the actual pending states or more important fixing bugs) but for me personally I wouldn't like it if we were able to free a system like Lugh with many stations and a big population in say 30 days.

For example I rembember discussions in the DDA's for expansion to unoccupied systems and i read that building a station requires hard work by many people and even then it will take several weeks or even months to complete. These things are intended to be long term goals, at least for my understanding.

The length of time between states (cooldown) has been considered, and will be shortened in 1.1. I am sure they are concerned for 'willy nilly' changes and wanting to prevent a loss of control of their story line, although Michael has pointed out that player actions do 'guide' outcomes. Also, remember that changing a ruling local faction does not automatically change the owning galaxy faction. Again a warning from Michael.

I have to admit..i am lieutenant in the Federation..sometimes you have to...:)

Who better to understand the importance of Independence!

I know of, and talk with, many of you. Others, I have not met...my in game name is the same as it is here! Commander Roybe in Lugh.

Feel free to say hey, ask questions, etc. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those working on Lugh's behalf....this has been a great time and I have enjoyed meeting every person, trader, pirate, etc. Let's remain on focus and finish this. To the overarching community, we only ask that you allow us the time to get the job we started out to do on your behalf...help iron out the bugs in the Background Simulation, so we all can have a dynamic galaxy with myriad ecosystems to support all our playstyles.

I would also like to put out a reminder and polite request. This experiment is not about expansion. It is about intrasystem faction exchanges, intrasystem control, and galactic faction flipping. Anyone working on any other system is at least muddying the waters for the community, at worst hurting the efforts of thousands of players hours and almost 8 weeks of effort.

Ofreboy will announce his intentions for the state of the experiment. I, like all of our allies, are welcome to add to his input, but ultimately the decisions on how we move forward are his within this system. We are aware that this is an open, PvP, non-ownership, game. We understand that players will be players. We just ask for some forebearance to limit the complexities faced in decision making.

Again, thank you for all the help, interactions, and your presence. May Lugh provide you warmth and light in your darkest of times, and my your aim be guided by his Spear. For Lugh. For Independence and Freedom.

just to avoid confusion, i assume you meant to write "intRAsystem" those couple of times, right?

Nothing new but just wondered about all those 0% factions beeing and getting into civil war in the galaxy at the moment.

So civil war will be triggered between two minor factions if one faction archieves the same or more amount of influence then the other faction in a system and if there is no actual cooldown period of any other state taking place for any of those two factions.

In detail they all reach the same thresholds. 0.1 % - 0.1% or 0.3% - 0.3%. In case of Lugh LDF with Silver Natural LTD now.
LDF lost -0.1% since the last update today. It stayed at 0.3% since more then one week and went down to 0.2% some days ago. Today LDF reached the threshold of SN LTD holding 0.1% all the time and pending states civil war critical was triggered immediately as CSGs and LDFs cooldown cycle has worn off.

Bad timing for CSG as we are still in a Boom state.

Some questions.

1. As orfeboy mentioned what will happen to those factions loosing a civl war and owning no station will they disapear ?

2. If they disapear will they be replaced by other new factions in the galaxy ? Expansion, colonization etc.

3. Why we got this lockdown pending in CSG queue ? Call me paranoid but if it would really be true that the import for example of non-lethal weapons
increase lockdown could it be the case that there is a bot running 24/7 and importing this commodity to CSG stations ?

PS: I had my experiences in other games with bots (the results were..they completely destroyed the games and the communities...).

Its just a game.

For quite a time we were actively importing non-lethal weapons and liquor. Carrying the cargo to all stations, proactively, filling any and all missions upon their generation. This was increasing Civil War AND Lockdown.

It's not just Liqour. I had a fetch wine run today that increased lockdown, sorry! I guess all alcohol is off limits... Not on my watch!!! OK no missions or trading with it but in the privacy of my cockpit... :p

OK Don't know where else to ask, went in a morning, the station was hostile and red, had the leading faction down to 21%, my expanding faction was 67%. Boom was critical with civil war next. Made a run came back, station is green and the faction I was working on is now the one with nothing pending.. Came back today, same on my faction, boom critical and civil war next. they own the system. hmmmm. ODD I only ran wealth or boom missions, whatever. I'm sure this helps nothing, don't know where else to post. I'm doing this in solo to a very small single outpost. I can see the boom, but not where the civil war is next comes from. Any and all, THX

Sound like the display bug. Try to log out of the game and in again or post a picture.

PS:

Off topic

You know the 2nd ending of Apocalypse Now ?

This sounds like the pending state display bug, where the pending state will get displayed empty anymore as soon as you opened a minor faction with no states pending.

This sounds like a flash civil war against the system owning minor faction.
Congratulations. You turned a system. Which one is it? Brata?
Did station ownership for a station change? Should have, because "your" faction should now be the owner of the system's main station.

EDIT: After reading it again it looks like you ran into the influence update, and the station being all red switched Allegiance in a flash civil war to your allied faction. It probably was the main station in the system, so the system ownership changed as well.

Just thought I'd say that I managed to get my Asp last night. Oh, and hi to Commander Technaut - it was great meeting you in game.

Also, just so everyone's clear (I'm sure everyone here is) - because it is an ambiguous term: "Minor Faction" refers to any system faction and is only used to distinguish them from the three major galactic powers. So EVERY faction in Lugh is a minor faction. I know most of you know this, but some of the posts refer to "minor factions" in a way that might mean "one of the factions that isn't LFE or CSG" - this is not the case.

And finally, the minor factions in Lugh that show as 0% on the right panel in game still have something like 0.3% so still have support.

I would expect that, if they ever truly hit 0% they would just disappear from the system (although possibly not straight away) rather than being replaced by an out-of-system faction. Maybe this is what their Civil Wars are about?

Throughout the game, red arrows indicate *bad* things and blue arrows indicate *good* things. On this basis, is the system telling us that increasing lockdown is actually a *good* thing for CSG?

e.g. could it be CSG will be imposing the lockdown on other factions?

Of course, lockdown up-arrows on mission summaries are always red. So maybe on this screen, up is always blue and down is always red.

Sorry, I've confused myself now...
