Why do people capitalise "Asp"?

A lot of people on this forum seem to capitalise "Asp" as "ASP". Why is this? Is it an acronym, and not just a name taken from that of a snake?

Because I don't get my finger off the shift key fast enough and can't be bothered to go back and edit for two letters. Due to the location of the keys on the keyboard Asp is really quick to type but close to the shift key. Hence my typing fingers are motoring and my pinky which is on the shift key gets caught up. Especially seeing as my left pinky is wired together from an old snowboarding accident on a plastic slope it is even slower.

Because people are damned idle and need whipping. They capitalise the A, and then by mistake do the S, then think Oh well, might as well do the P (as opposed to take the P). They should be beaten until they spell it Asp.

If we're getting pedantic it isn't spelling mistake the letters are correct it is the capitalisation that is incorrect and falls under grammar. Therefore it is a grammatical error lol

Because they are so cool you just have to shout ASP! Just like when you see an original AC Cobra burble past you don't say oh look a Cobra you shout HEY LOOK A COBRA!

Because it's ASP not Asp. Speak it out loud, it makes a difference. ASP! ASP!

(Sounds louder, you must speak louder while mowing...)

Abbreviations are written in capitals. To be honest (being a non native english speaker), I always thought ASP abbreviated something. After looking it up, an asp is what we call an "Adder" in dutch (or so it seems).

Well I think some people don't realize "asp" is a type of snake, and there aren't many 3 letter words, so maybe they assume it's an acronym instead of a normal word? (Add to that that ED has a very international audience, with many non-native English speakers.)

It's a pain in the asp. :D

Nah - asps and adders are a different set of snake species. Same family, though. But different geographic distribution.

I usually post on my iphone from work and autocorrect
makes it go from Asp to ASP so I just leave it at that

I don't know about the others but I did not realize directly that "Asp" meant the snake, so I just called it "Ay Es Pee" and it stuck, thus ASP or A.S.P.

I call it A S P. Separate letters :p

Plus an Asp is a snake and that is DeLacy's thing not Lakon's. Speaking of which, WHERE'S THE TYPE 8!? I'm just gunna start calling the ASP the new T8 :T
