Help finding Pisces constellation on the Galaxy map

Hiya I'm about to get my 1st real exploration ship finished and want to embark on a tour of the zodiac constellations. So I thought I would start with Pisces.

After searching the net for constellation star names I found a map I could use to plan my routes
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pisces_IAU.svg

That's where I have a problem on the ED galaxy map I search for the star names but they don't appear to be the names used buy the galaxy map.

Clicking the link to the star names on the wiki does give other names and designations for the stars. Before I do a trial and error search each designation for each star, I was wondering if anyone could tell me which designations ED uses??

Many Thanks
Hex.

You should be able to use any designation in Elite's search. Or at least I think that's what the devs said.

Doesn't work that way atm but would be great if it did. I tried Alpha Piscium, Beta Piscium etc had no joy with the 15 stars that make the two fish.

Check wiki for other designations and try those.

Alrischa, Alrescha, Kaitain, Okda, α Piscium, α Psc, Alpha Psc, 113 Piscium, BD+02 317, CCDM J02020+0246AB, HD 12447/12446, HIP 9487, HR 595/596, IDS 01569+0217 AB / 02020+0246, SAO 110291, WDS J02020+0246AB.

I take it you mean to travel to each star system that makes up each constellation... because the stars forming a constellation are often nowhere near each other. Alpha Piscium for example is 139LY while Beta is 492LY. From those Wiki pages you can see all the various designations give. Alpha Piscium has a good few for example: Alrischa, Alrescha, Kaitain, Okda, α Piscium, α Psc, Alpha Psc, 113 Piscium, BD+02 317, CCDM J02020+0246AB, HD 12447/12446, HIP 9487, HR 595/596, IDS 01569+0217 AB / 02020+0246, SAO 110291, WDS J02020+0246AB. You could try working your way through those.

Yep looks like I will have to search each name for each system till I get a hit!! Was hoping someone would have done it before to save me searching (I know its lazy lol)

Yep totally understand the star systems are not all going to be close to eachother I was planning on exploring my way from point to point though the constellation ;-)

Follow the smell of fish

Even with this the background fish smell from human space makes my search fruitless
