How do you benchmark with the oculus?

I currently have a 770GTX SLI system. Its pretty darn good for ED but I have more money than sense, and should have two 980GTX's at my door today.

I've read posts that there are still issues etc so I'd like to do before and after benchmarks, only I'm not sure of the best method to get FPS in the rift.

I plan on testing in station, at an extraction site, and in supercruise and will share the benchmarks in the forum.

I was wondering that myself. Is it possible to get ED to display the frame rate at the corner of the screen or something?

I use MSI Afterburner. It's Riva Tuner can display current fps in top left of Rift (left eye using cords of 300,300).

I also use it to log and graph GPU parameters like fps, gpu usage, temps etc and usually have it minimised when playing to get a rolling graph and/or log file.

Places I use to get good info:

Tutorials (all) - Usually run like butter, constant 75 fps
Resource Extraction Sites - Can be a tough test
Posh stations with palm trees etc (Dawes Hub in Achenar, Mikail Gorbechev in Sol) - toughest test I've encountered yet.

Thanks Spam, due to a PEBCAK error, I didn't get it running with the 770's before I switched out to the 980's.

Things are definitely improved but I am a bit disappointed that maxed out I still don't quite get 75fps in a busy extraction site, its 75fps until lots of combat starts then it dips down to 68 or so. Now I can't really tell a difference but I don't get any motion issues from low FPS like some people seem to (I played it maxed out on my 770's where you could definitely tell it was lower fps).

The best program I found was Playclaw 5 ... You can choose what info you wish to see and position anywhere on screen at any size. When I do benchmarks I can see FPS, CPU and GPU usage and temps. :)

Id be interested in getting some fps results from doing a poll on what fps you are achieving with a number of configs..ill make a new thread about it

This is a great idea - might at least provide Rift-hungry CMDR's some accurate buying advice before they spank their cash on a 630m that some dude claims can run at a squillion FPS. :D

One example of an fps log whilst I was tweaking stuff using MSI afterburner, with on screen fps diosplay. This was minimised and capturing at 1000ms intervals I think.

From this I had found that the "Low" Defaults and "Ultra" defaults didnt have a massive effect on judder. Dawes hub juddered badly on Low, and slightly worse on Ultra.
For me MSI is a cracking tool for seeing what is going on. But it did cost me loads of money.
