Newcomer / Intro Favourite Elite moment so far

Dogfighting and accidentally bumping into an enemy at high speed, resulting in my canopy blowing out. I had to break off (without getting shot to pieces), jump to super cruise, and run full tilt for a station, then ask for landing permission all while watching my 5:00 life support clock. Best part of that was I lost my HUD *just* in the place where the canopy glass was blown out - cool!

Seeing the shadow of my asp with its landing gear down against the side of the platform as i came in to land. Stunning moment for me and the sheer attention to detail took my breath away...

Many favourite moments:

The first time I won a battle against a vastly superior ship,
Skimming past a ringed gas giant in supercruise,
The elation of returning to a safe harbour after an 18,000LY voyage,
The creaking sound my trusty Cobra makes as I boost,
Jumping into a system with my mates and seeing them pop up on the radar, and around me in space,
Sitting still in space and listening to the weird noises and music,
The first time I hyperspaced into a nebula,

but if I had to pick one standout moment it would be the first time I saw a Coriolis station, back during alpha testing - it exceeded every expectation and I nearly wept with joy :)

Just now arriving at Judson Station, Mizar; after a 160Ly voyage from Dulos. Finding it was 150,000Ls to the secondary star (I had checked the system map in advance some jumps earlier but it looked like the secondary star might not be so far away), selling my rares, looking at how far away Dulos now was, and the fact I had travelled from near Achenar, past Sol to near Alioth. I looked at the traffic report, this was a fairly quiet system and most of those were probably just passing through and I just thought wow, this is a massive Galaxy.

Close but no cigar is the other day when I thought I'd killed my first Anaconda after giving it a pounding only for someone else to nick the bounty when it was 1% hull. There was another CMDR in the area, don't know if they're the ones that got it though.

The first five or ten minutes with every new ship i buy, while i test it out (only two left to go) - unfortunately wears off really quickly when you realise that 'upgrading' from a fully kitted asp to a stock python, or fully kitted t7 to a stock t9 is actually a DOWNGRADE :p - but still, the novelty is always good, along with that new ship smell

But probably the best moment, was attacking a conda at a res, got it's shields down, it's hull still maybe at 98%, he boosted away to open range for his PA... Into an asteroid, and i became 98k richer in under 20 seconds. As one who has left more than a layer or two of paint on asteroids, this made me feel somewhat vindicated, and cackling with maniacal glee

Bought Cobra, fitted with bunch of weapons, went to Asteroid field, fighting 1 vs 3, entered space station with 10 seconds left of oxygen :)))

Hehe nice to know the AI can be just as careless as us real pilots :)

During a dog-fight, when it gets close to the wire.....

....Do I run or do I risk death......

Winning a fight with no shields left, and a hull with less than 10% is terrifying, exhilarating and rewarding all at once.

Not sure about favourite moment but it surely had.. something:

I had been mining with a Hauler, with stripped shields. As I returned to the station and slowly, carefully! approached the pad, the station's lasers in the back started to fire upen something behind me, up and left. While ducking away from the shooting (no shields, remember?) I noticed a hollow square on the sensors:
1) the first human being many days
2) ... suddenly disappearing.
Upon undocking again I was greetd by a chunk of debris floating in front of me...

Got a new fav
The Trading Post in Delta Phoenicis is a unique orbital, very humorous and a very nice change from all the others. You must go and see (It sells Rares)

Most of the platforms are replaced with domed gardens
Palm tree everywhere
Platform Holo's are a different font and PINK

Actually it's a mental image. Was bounty hunting at nav point in Sol. Apart from me in my Asp there were at least three Federal Security Vipers, a bounty hunting Anaconda and Python and two bounty hunting Vipers. This whole bunch just tore to shreds wanted 'Conda and congregated around 5 km from the nav point. A wanted Sidey scans me "What are ya hauling?" All I see on the screen is this Sidey in my sights and all over the screen perimeter the bounty hunters pointed at him. Looked like a rabbit in a wolf pen.

It was horrible at the time, but around some time I just bought my T6 and in my newness ignorant state of mind I decided to go for the big profit and invested every credit I had into one hauling session.
Everything went smooth up until I was about to dock into the final destination to make the big turn-in for my money.

As I approached the final station realizing I forgot to ask for docking permission I decided to reverse and back up because I was to close.
However muscle memory on all of the buttons on my x52 Pro still a bit lacking, I pushed the 'boost' button on my HOTAS instead of the reverse button.

I slammed into the station in a very upsetting nasty way busting my (stock life support) cockpit window leaving me with a couple of minutes of oxygen.
There I was, nearly frozen of shock already thinking about that sidewinder and 1000 credits because I didn't have enough for the insurance.

In litterly heart-pounding, hand sweating fashion I docked my T6 with only 6 more seconds on the oxygen clock.
Backing away from my seat I relaxed and shouted 'what a game'.

It certainly is! :D

I'd have to say my favorite moment would be jumping into a new, uncharted system on my way to greener pastures and then orienting myself towards my next jump vector. During this time though, I've failed to notice the giant burning ball of fusion that indicates this is a binary star system and I'm hurtling towards it at 5-8c and my poor ship comes tumbling out of SC and suffers near catastrophic heat damage.

Although, besting an opponent in my Adder after friendly fire on the Federation Security Force is pretty fun too :p

For me it was when I was experimenting.

I was mining (yes it is as boring as it sounds), I was also in a sector that I trade in often. A pirate jumped in and demanded my nonexistent cargo then open fired on me. I was in an adder with two gimballed pulse lasers and we went out into a dogfight. Next thing I knew two system law enforcement ships showed up and went to town on the pirate. It went as you can expect, the pirate was out numbered and out gunned, he fought for a minute but tried to bail and I got the bounty.
What made my day was that after thinking Elite Dangerous only wanted to kill me, the nice police proved me wrong. Though I realized I do not like mining I came to the conclusion that I want a bigger ship and decide that if I do mine again It will be there.

A more substantial one was when I got my cobra, I am kitting it up to what I like. I will then do a lot of deep space exploration.

I was exploring a system with 3 black holes & loads of suns in it, it looked a great view out of the cockpit, then i was impressed when i docked at a station on return & got 120k CRs for the data on that system.

It was today (day 2) when I came in for a landing at high speed and cut the throttle at just the right moment nose up , landing gear down and that perfect landing, I looked like I knew what I was doing :)

First time i tried smuggling. Used the boost into station aporoach.

You know what im going to say next dont you?

Yup, a fat T9 wallowing slowly out of the letterbox.

Was in a viper, just enough room... Almost. Clipped him but lived. Came to a stop half way down the station at an odd angle, my hands frozen on the controls.

Great moment.

bought my T6, outfitted it a little, left off the shields of course - because I cannot NOT have that extra cargo space to get that 8k credits more per run - bought cargo, undocked, lifted the ship, wanted to leave the station, pressed boost - as i usually do when aligned - and quickly realized that a T6 handles quite differently than a cobra.
smashed into the station, without shields, blew up after a few minutes ownership.

the great moment about it: thought to myself (with a slightly opened mouth and shocked look) .... "huh... learned something today"

PS: fortunately, i was only a little dumb (no shields) but not entirely... i had enough cash for the insurance left.

fense

Best moment? Probably the first time I stumbled into a combat zone. It was a wild ride all the way through.
