Anaconda as armed trader?

Been flying my trusty old T9 on some good routes, it's armed and carries 492T of cargo. Have noticed that things are gradually getting more dangerous as more cmdr's have the money to buy and kit out powerful pirate ships, I guess as the game evolves and more players become rich it will only get worse for merchant ships

So I'm looking to keep my T9 on more quiet routes and buy a Conda for the busier areas. would like to hear from traders using the Anaconda, what kind of cargo loads can you carry with good shields and weapon load outs?

Cheers

I'm rocking 404t of cargo, five turrets and three pulse lasers, class 6 shields. No one has intercepted me yet and I won't tell you where I am to keep it like that :*

I had all cannons - a mix of multi & straight-up ordinary - on my 'conda in Beta .... one pull of the trigger and bye bye bad boys & girls :p

404T is not bad, I could take the hit for the extra gains in jump range etc. Do you have a build on eliteshipyard? I'll have a play around myself but would be interested in hearing more comments.

The Anaconda is a beast for trading.
The jumprange is significantly higher, the speed too and the feel, its just soaring with power!
Its also a multipurpose ship so when you're done trading you can fit it out to explore (which it is better than the ASP in!)

I've tried a 4A scoop but just refuelling is usually quicker and the difference is only 1-3k credits.

If you plan on doing longer jumps, e.g. re-locating, I'd definitely pack a scoop though.

Edit: coming from a T9 I think (!) the Anaconda is about half the price in refuelling.

That's probably true. :)

But unlike in a Type9 you have eight hardpoints to discourage further harassment. And more power.

It's a fine ship and I'm enjoying her. But the Python was better - I can't get myself to like that huge box on the belly of the Anaconda and I wish there was a version of it without that. :)

As trader with Oculus Rift i did not enjoyed the view out of Anaconda compared to T9, so i went back.
Had several interdictions and was never a problem to get out of pirates (shileld cells must be here). And as you are in the most massive ship ín T9 there is no mass lock either and i can easily push out Anacondas from the letterbox entrance :)

I don't think you can masslock an Anaconda. I've easily hyperjumped from the luxuries traders without any problem.
Yes, the T9 has 96t more cargo room but I definitely wouldn't want to have to fly it again. :'D

That's interesting, part of me wanting to switch is to see what it feels like in the rift. The view in the T9 is perfect in my opinion, I had imagined the size of the bridge in the DK2 would be very immersive? Even the clipper in the DK2 feels like being on the bridge of a cruise liner. Is the Anaconda really that bad?

Still, the Anaconda seems like the best option when it comes to defending against pirate attacks. which is my primary reason for needing one.

I'm a sucker for big heavy ships lol, I love the way the T9 handles, you really have to think ahead and manage the inertia.
