Newcomer / Intro so what happens here.....??

i have a mission to kill a terrorist in an anaconda.......the feds show up ,,i take him down to 3% ... but i dont actually kill him, last shot was by a fed,,, the mission still shows active but the target is dead ....???
 
Paul, please also raise a support ticket. The game mechanic on bounties for killing NPCs was altered so you no longer needed to get the final shot, so long as you were shooting at it within n seconds of another NPC finishing the job. Your description feels like the kill missions should be similarly aligned, which would have likely credited you with the kill (assuming there wasn't a long time gap between your final shot and then the NPC feds finishing the job.

For the record, I didn't support the change to bounties on NPCs and felt "last shot wins" was fine, but as it's now been changed by FD it feels like they should align mission kills too.
 
I'm not sure about exact numbers, because I can't find the thread I mean, but how it works (or is supposed to work) is following:
Player can steal kill from another player, just like before, but NPC can't steal your kill by "just the last shot" - if the target dies within certain time (10s?) after your last hit, you still get credited. So it's important to land a hit from time to time, even if you let cops do your work.

This is correct. As far as I know hull and module damage has decimals that we can't see so keep firing when the enemy reaches 0% as they could be at 0.9% and need another shot or two to finish them off.

The change was a bit of a nerf but system authority vessels were stealing a lot of high value kills so this change was a concession to the payers. We might see a proper payout based on the % damage you did when wings are implemented but we don't know yet.
