Newcomer / Intro Bountry hunting is fun....

....espescially when you get 106,000 credits for shooting down a bad guy's Anaconda lol

My Cobra has class G gimballed multicannons in the small hardpoints (and gimballed E class beam lasers in the medium)

Can't seem to find any upgrades, espescially fore the multicannons. Had a look in a couple of high tech systems..what can I do? The beam lasers are fine but the cannons lack a bit of punch

Also fancy going to conflict zones, where to find them? I guess anarchy systems?
 
Do gimbaled & turreted weapons auto-fire? Or only auto-TARGET.
How can you be sure turreted weapons will hit (or at least try to) if the target is not in front / field of view? Just keep the target targeted and fire away?
 
Gimballed weapons effectively have a broader field of fire; you don't have to aim perfectly with your whole ship the way you do with fixed guns; fixed just point in one direction and you use you ship to aim them. Gimballed ones have independent movement, and will try to auto-target anything within their field of fire. Naturally, they still hav elimits.

Gimballed weapons do less damage, so it's a tradeoff between making it easier to hit the target and how much damage you do when you do hit it. Fixed weapons reward the greater skill needed to use them.

I presume turrentted weapons have even greater fields of fire and can move much more independently.

Of course, fixed are cheaper than gimballed, and gimballed cheaper than turreted. Also fixed us eless power, gimballed more, and turrted even more..for the same amount of damage.

For example, let's say you have D1 Cannons (cannon, small hardpoint). There is no "A1 Cannon" or "B1 Cannon". So in your case, Class 1 G Gimbal Multis is the best you can get for that weapon type/mounting size.
 
Switch the hardpoints - class 1fixed beams with class 2 gimballed multicannons is a really effective combination. That setup uses less power too.
 
I'm having fun with my Asp, two medium plasma accelerators and four small fixed beam lasers (all A rated modules).
The lasers obliterate all below Asp, even hull. The plasma accelerators are deadly when shield are down and targeting the power plant => one shot kill many times.

Are you sure? I am convinced that in hitech systems I have seen multiple beam lasers for the medium hardpoints of different grades.

It would seem very odd that they would not use the same outfitting system for weapons as they do internals. Or indeed utility hardpoints.

For example, I am convinced I have seen gimballed beam lasers for medium (type 2) hardpoints of different classes. One would presume that as with internals, they cost more, but pack more punch for the power.

Also, am I corrected in saying that there are upgrades in select hitech systems, I have read of such things as gimballed multicannons (high penetrations) and gimballed beam lasers (focussed)

However, they systems listed as having 'em are a long way away :)
 
Those weapon systems were more common in gamma than the 1.0 release, it seems.

I must remember to search out Njikan tonight. It was specifically mentioned as a source of more specialisedweapons, although I'm not sure if they are still in-game.
