Okay, okay. In all seriousness, I have to admit, despite its hideous price and rather hefty operating cost, Anaconda is a fantastic ship, and even more so after me spending ages grinding goods in my Type-9.

It's a fantastic trading barge. Sure, Type-9 could carry about 100 more tons of goods - almost 200 if you fly shieldless, though I don't know why you would do that - but Anaconda is just better in almost every single way. It flies faster, turns quicker, jumps further and doesn't chug down fuel like a blackhole. And most importantly, it carries about three times the firepower OH YES. Sure, Type-9 has better placed cockpit and fits better (slightly) into a starport entrance, but if you're one of us maniacs trading in Open Play, Type-9 is literally a flying pinata. I've yet hear one of those Cobra-flying Cmdr scums interdicting Anacondas.

So, if you're aiming for an Anaconda but still doubts whether it worth the price - it does. Yes the operating cost is high, but if you could afford an Anaconda, chance is some regular trading is more than enough to cover the cost. And at the end of the day, you could still turn your 'conda into a battleship.

congratz! I'm still flying a Cobra and only dreaming of an Asp as my next step so I give two thumbs up in recognition of the effort you put in to get the ship

For some reason, that i can't quite put my finger on, i don't think this should have been posted in the newcomers forum. Call me crazy if you will...

Right on, commander! Can you tell what your strategy was to get there? To make this thread more relevant for the newcomers forum? Getting to T9 as fast as possible and then tedious trucking?

It can serve as an inspiration for new comers ;)

In my opinion if you are serious on trading with this vessel, fit four to six 'ok I had enough, eat this' torpedo pylon's and replace gimballed with turrets...
Most player PvP'ers will think twice before attack you.

I need one of those ships... I love my Type 9 and I could trade it in for an Anaconda but Like I say, I love my type 9 so I think I will just grind on :D

Well done
To beat the monotonous aspect of trading I often sell and replace with an expensive combat ship and have fun a few days. Sure there's that 10% loss on the ship, but that's nothing and can be traded back quickly if the Anaconda turns out to be not really your thing. It's one of the best features in the game, the fact that your credit capital can be spend and re-spend at minimal loss. It's amazing that one does not lose a lot when selling ship parts, in other games these are artificial money sinks and if the game would only give back 50% of the original purchasing price people would lose a lot of flexibility. I hope this never changes.

Short version: grind your [deducted] off.

Long version: Early this January I had a few days off so I spent four 8-hour days grining luxuries, going from T6 all the way to T9. Yesterday I heard luxury trading will be serious nerfed (and rightfully so, but well, if it ain't a bug then it ain't an exploit) so I went to Tenche system and spent another 8-hour on grinding, and finally got me there. Ugh.

does that thing actually fit? or is there like special docking for anacondas? lol. im seriously curious
You gotta fly so close to the entrance's top that you can almost FEEL the bridge scraping the wall to get your belly through. But hey, the trade of is I don't have to worry about flying through open space anymore. Totally worth it.

I didn't start playing until like ten days after release. As opposed to all the alpha/beta backers, I'm totally green :D

I promise you will enjoy it once you get it. T9 served me well but trust me, after flying in a 'conda you won't miss your T9 one bit.

Hate to tell you this - but before you take a trip into i.e. Lave.... Upgrade your Weapons... Massively.

If any PvP guy sees that Harmless Weapons loadout (can be scanned in SuperCruise) - you're as good as dead.

Absolutely. Right now my 'conda is basically a husk. Outfitted as a trading barge, nothing more. I'm gonna need at least another 400mil to get everything I need.

Same here. Won't ever sell the Type9, such a great ship. I'll save some credits for a Python and buy one this or next week (need to dock at outposts).

This is hardly a Newcomer topic

Hpurs and hours and hours of grinding trade in a Lakon. Trade is by far the quickest way to make credits (and th emost boring IMHO) and the OP said he had a Lakon-9, which is usless for anything else for the most part. I guess you could mine in it but it's a sitting duck.
