Haven't we been here before .. when I say a response of "you can say that again" ? :D

And yes - not exactly happy about the latest thread by FD - looks like it's going ahead anyway (well, has to, was put into the news letter before we knew about it :eek:), Sandro ignored the concerns, and most likely I am on his ignore list now anyway.

C'est la vie.

but is this for DDF ears only or can you dish the gossip?

Unless Frontier changes their mind, access ceased to be available, with the demise of the Backers' App, just before the launch of Alpha 1.0 in early December 2013.

Trust me, at the moment, you do not want to join. It MAY become active again, but has been fairly moribund. Which is no surprise, really. After all, the DDA design stuff looks to be enough to keep FD dev going for many years yet.

Actually, given how many people are in it, I think the DDF members have done a pretty good job of keeping stuff inside the DDF. And that is likely to continue. I see no harm in the stuff that people like Liqua and I have been saying, but you will note that we are not going into details of what the proposal is, or what it is that some of us do not like about it. That much is not for us to disclose, IMHO.

If I remember correctly, there was an intimation at some point that DDF members would have access to real time data regarding the operation of the game. That would constitute "god-like powers" but there's no sign of it happening. It's been a little disappointing for me personally but I don't regret backing to the level I did.

Even though we seem to have created a religion in that various forum members quote from the DDA Bible, it is not quite "God like powers" as was hinted at. :p

The DDF is a quiet little backwater where we can get away from all the noise of the general forums. I just hope FD took on board the comments about communication and have implemented some of it into tomorrows beta build.

Thanks! I'm really keen to do what i can to give the smuggling and legal system a bit of a good looking at but you are quite correct, there's already plenty in the DDA to keep things going.

Well I have been out charting systems with the advanced scanners to find one to recommend for colonisation, its hard work but its all gameplay.

Found a top quality mining site in an unhinhabited marginal system, deserves a station.

But I will go out into the boonies and look for more before making my petition, just in case there is a better one out there.


I am glad I forked out the money tbh though I considered myself a little crazy at the time. Anyway the majority of the DDF are telling FD they should try to get the simulation to decide such things and allow all players to participate. We arent trying to control your universe, we don't believe in oligarchy ... its just a temporary responsibility, stewardship, nooblesse oblige and all that :p

Forget god like powers - we cant even start our own discussion threads in the DDF forum and our opinions have not been sought on pretty much any substantive design content or balancing issue since early last year as far as can remember.

Other than the short term flux state when we moved to the new forum software recently, we have never been able to create threads in the DDF forum.
