Newcomer / Intro What is USS?

Looking for black boxes. Tried forum help. People talking about USS, what is that, please?

Unidentified Signal Source... you should see them as you are flying around in supercruise. You get into them from supercruise just like getting to a station.

They have random spawns in them though so you may have to go to several before you find what you are looking for

You'll find them floating around in systems. You have to target them and then travel to them and drop out of supercruise the same way you do for getting to a station.
They have random "stuff" in them:
a trader
a pirate
floating debris
random containers of stuff
nothing...just plain empty
a funeral barge
a wedding party
and who knows what else (not kidding about the last 2 either)

You have to just keep searching them until you find whatever you're looking for.
