The Revolutionary Jotunheim Resistance and the Ngadjal Situation - A plea for help from Frontier

Not a thing you do in real life carries much weight either.
Obviously you can't distinguish between real life, and a game.

Lets apply that mentality to books, not much interesting happens from day to day. Lets read books where nothing happens for hundreds of pages at a time. Maybe they could make a movie out of, or a tv adaptation. Then we could spend hours watching people mow their lawns and walk their dogs! You are brilliant!

Oh well... talking with you is as fruitful as talking with the next wall.

Hey now, he has a point.

Braben stated himself, in a nice 8 minute design video all the things that you could do involving factions/reputation/influence. But not one thing came of that.

...
Our faction expanded into Ngadjal several weeks ago now, and the combined efforts of hundreds of players, with at least a dozen running missions at any given time during our big pushes, has been significant. Meanwhile, however, the influence of the system have been unbelievable. Despite concerted efforts and lulls in activity where we've done nothing at all to compare, the influence has steadily dropped by 0.1% every few days.

We had hoped that with recent fixes to the queue and results being sent to the wrong system, we'd finally see some success, but there has been nothing - our biggest push yet over several days and the result was... a 0.1% drop in influence, down to 8.0%, the same as the end of the several days previous where we'd suspended operations completely.
...

Did your faction expand into more than one system maybe?
"my" faction is in a similar state at the moment ... it has outposts in 4 different neighbouring systems, all of them except one completely broken and stuck for months now

main system: influence gains seem to work (since a recent patch )
system 2: influence gains seem to work ( since a recent patch )
system 3: influence BROKEN
system 3: influence BROKEN
system 4: influence BROKEN
system 5: influence BROKEN

the annoying part is the inability of FD to communicate what parts of the metagame are currently working and what parts are known to be broken and what parts are supposed to have been fixed with a recent update

a sticky thread on the forums would be sufficient, but instead we have to dig through hundreds of posts on the forums to extract any usable information about the current state of the metagame

I just had a crazy thought. Maybe a recent patch introduced another bug relating to missions influence gains.

Perhaps the influence gains for missions are relative instead of absolute.
e.g. a faction has 5% of the system influence - mission reward = 1%
Absolute gain 1% = total influence now 6%
Relative gain 0.05% = total influence now 5.05%

These numbers are used solely for illustrative purposes.

Perhaps there are people trading with the other faction's stations resulting in an influence gain for them and reduced influence for the faction without a station. Trading is EXTREMELY imbalanced at the moment. A single person can with relative ease gain 1% influence per day for a minor faction through trading, that's a topic for another discussion however.

The influence loss problem may also relate only factions with low influence in a system, but we simply don't know how the influence mechanics truely work and therefore it will be difficult to give a bug report with useful information. The best we can do is to trade stories about our experiences and hope it gets someone's attention :)

Did anything ever change around here?

We currently experience similar issues in 2 systems:
Minor factions without a station.
Did mission running to push influence and failed to do so.

Had another system with a station (no commodity market) where we did missions and bounty hunting and raised influence by 6.8% in 3 days, triggered civil war, won a station.

Any news regarding the status?

I received a message from Brooks that they are looking into it, there might be another bug where the influence goes to the home system instead.
