So, am I screwed? Corrupt save file.

Hi guys, first post here for me. Bought ED this weekend and love it, reminds me of old Privateer 2 which I think is/was awsome.

Well, was playing yesterday, a long trip and was heading back for landing at a space station to complete a mission when suddenly my whole neighbourhood had a power loss, which of course shut down my computer. When the power got back I tried to load the game again but just got a window telling me that it couldn´t load save file. I tried to disable antivirus software but it was a no go.

Is there anything I can do or am I forced to clear save file and restart? :S

Ok, will check that out. Do you the response time for them to answer? Guess it could take some time and then I will likely restart the whole game instead. Had about 17k CR and was to collect a reward at 17k aswell so I didn´t have a lot of money but it took some hours anyway to get here.

Im at Tenche atm. FD is very bad with tickets and I spend more money than that on one reload of missle racks, so I'd be glad to help a new player keep playing.

I would suggest a restart, you are early in the game... I still have no answer from a 31. december ticket and a mid of january one is still not answered too.

I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I did a fresh install on my new desktop computer and my commander was just how I'd left him on the laptop. It makes sense that you don't actually need the local save file on a fresh install.

Your save are on their server, so you cant destroy it. I Guess the blackout destroyed your game on your computer, reinstall and you should be Good to go, if Windows did not take damage too, i had to reinstsll the whole computer after a blackout one time

Can you get into the menu screen at all?
If you can... it's worth try to complete a training mission and trying the in-game again.

I've had similar problems and that has worked for me... better than a restart ;-)

It sounds like you might be better off restarting the game. The timer on your mission will have expired, and instead of getting a nice 17K profit, you will incur a fine for non-completion of the contract, and suffer reputation loss with the faction that offered the contract.

I belive i saw you wanted there, but if it would be only that i wouldn t say this since you could have accidentaly hit a ship while guarding trader, but there was some people complaining about Cmdr IRREFUTABLE LOGIC (easy nickname to remember) X)

Guarding the trader in Lux is fun btw, sometimes jump in there in my viper but i m not a lot of help when they fly a python

I can assure you I killed no traders in that area. I have no idea who would be complaining about me, but hey, at least I'm a name someone knows haha. As far as being wanted, I have hit people several times while trying to kill some random killer, which I'm sure you can sympathize with. Guarding the traders around there is a good way to knock out some work with the thought of a random encounter to keep you going as you glance at your screen occasionally.

I won't pretend to be of perfect morals, as I have certainly engaged in fighting caused by me, but always with equally armed ships. I will not attack unarmed traders with the intention to kill for no reason because it causes suffering without any fun fighting or reward. However, I may fight for the wrong side doing so occasionally haha, because without bad guys, there are no good guys to fight them and have combat fun. In tenche, I have been an angel so far (I promise) so dunno whats up with that.
As for my name, I first made this account a month before release with the intention of posting my PC specs to see if it could run the game. They said it couldnt, I bought it anyway, and it runs it decently . At that point I had no idea what my CMDR name would be, so I named this account after my favorite animal, and later I made my CMDR name that because it is memorable and I like to think myself a person of logic before all else. Please, add me in game if you like .

How do you protect traders? In super cruise when a trader is interdicted, how do you pop out of sc in the same place?

Yeah the game loads into the menu just fine. It is when I click "Solo" or "Open game" that I get the error. Thanks for the hint, will try that.

And yes, I probably will get a fine because of the time ran out for the contract. Didn´t thought of that. Goddamit
