Newcomer / Intro Wonderful. Now "wanted" because an idiot flew through my mining beam.

Mining, minding my own business, and some idiot flew from beneath me into my mining-beam.
Naturally, the local security ships engaged, but I hit the gas and got outa there. I'm currently parked at a station, but can't seem to pay off any penalty, bounty, or "warning".

Will the 'wanted' warning wear off over time? Or what must I do to fix it?

Bounties seem to be bugged at the moment. If you can't pay it off via the Pilot's federation on the contacts page and there is no sign of a fine on your transactions tab, try logging out of the game and reloading.

I've been sitting at port for the past few minutes, and I don't see any indication I'm still wanted, but I'm trying just that to be safe ;)
Thanks!

Ok; Well; Looks like it's cleared, but it may have drawn my fine out of the bounty-reward that was already owed to me; so, I don't know if it was time, or just having landed and waiting it out.

Nothing like having some NPC masking your fire. It sucks. I turned off "Notify authorities of crimes against me" because they kept getting in the way. Especially if you are using beam or cannons.

I'm just going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're making a joke because you got the joke from my own post. :)

Best thing to do is go offline, go solo then get yourself to a starport, pay the fine and then get yourself back online.

This has nothing to do with fire control.

A good example:

Now that I've got home and been able to watch that video, a couple of points:

1. It's a different situation - the OP was firing mining lasers and was presumably not moving in space relative to the asteroid field. Hence the joke about learning fire control - he wasn't even engaged in combat maneuvers.

2. The pilot in the short video should have been paying better attention to his scanner and the trails from the dumbfires - it's clear that the SA ship is approaching the player at pretty high speed. Fire control. ;)

I don't know about you, but when in combat, I tend to focus entirely on my target. And the reason I am not expecting other ships to fly through my beam of energy is that this is borderline suicidal stupid behavior, and I expect more from AI in 2015.

If you can't understand a joke, that's your problem.

FD are changing the mechanic behind what generates a response from the police because of the amount of whining from people who don't check their fire; I think it's working as originally intended. It's not my fault people don't look at their scanners.

I somehow like that you have to watch you trigger finger while pirate hunting in a Resource Extraction Site, so as far as I'm concerned this can stay.
However getting a bounty because someone flew through your mining laser, either a terrible oversight or the devs got some good humor.

This is called "lack of situational awareness" and is a good way to end up dead from a collision or worse.

Regarding AI, it's nice to be able to blame something else for something you could be doing better, isn't it? Always makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
