Beta 1.1 comments for non beta players

Ok, heres a scenario. Clean player, perhaps a bounty hunter or other trying to be a do gooder interdicts a ship to perform a cargo scan for illegal goods or smuggled items? I have interdicted traders leaving anarchy systems, followed them into federal/alliance systems and interdicted and scanned them there as they may be carrying slaves. And that's a going to be a crime?

I don't want some vigilante pulling me over to check my cargo, thank you very much. It goes without saying that unwarranted interdictions are not OK, even if your intentions are to act like a fascist.

I dont think this will change anything, its more a lore change type thing.

It should make interdicters more wanted, so more bounty. Im being interdicted by NPCs with no bounty, who shoot first and still have no bounty.

So, you're telling me that players wanting to "pirate" are now subjected to an extra fine on top of their assault (and potentially murder) fines when dealing with uncooperative players?

What about the alt-f4 majority? Now, pirates must deal with their targets' incredibly easy access to escape (ending the process, or simply initially submitting and flying away). Do you get multiple fines for successive interdixtions against a single target? What about fines accrued without any chance to recoup them on the target being interdicted (due to their ending the process)? Should pirates be subjected to thousands of credits worth of extra fines while they are already unable to earn anything more chump change from stolen goods, assuming they're able to earn any, AT ALL?

Seems to me like a poorly thought-out change that's only going to further deter piracy, leaving only 2 or 3 ways to play the game.

Revert it. It doesn't make any effective change for the better - those whom want to grief will interdict and fire regardless of fines. Those whom want to play the game fairly, however disadvantaged they may be in doing so, are being beaten with the bat, instead.

Tragedy of it all is that no one on these forums seems to care, so long as their trade runs are undisrupted - "Screw the other guy, at least I got mine" seems to be the dominant ideology here.

Trading Questions New Beta Trading Questions New Beta

Is 'Imported From' and 'Exported To' working in the new beta?

Is there more information on import/exports on the system map for each station?

1.1 beta ? 1.1 beta ?

Hi not sure about this , but looks like a beta down load is available ? I thought the game was released, or is this like SC & they are giving us the chance to play upgrades before everyone else?
I did back the game before release & I did purchase option for all additional content to be released "FPS,boarding, multicrew" & so forth. Thanks for any info or advice.

Beta 1.1 changelog - Highlights Beta 1.1 changelog - Highlights

Good Day,

So while I am downloading the new Beta 1.1 update, I thought I would post some highlights that I found of interest here, for those who are not in the beta, and those who don't wish to read through the long list:

Main new features/content:

- Community Goals added
- Route planning extended to 1,000 ly
- Russian language translations added
- Add 'Discovered by' tag to system map - needs to be surfaced scanned
- Fancy new gas giant shader
- City lights on imhabited planets
- Pilots Federation rank decals
- Parallax shader for cloud layer on terrestrial planets
- Add explored system details on the right hand side of the cartographics shop
- Top benefactors support added to system map

Some other interesting points:

- Added chevrons to pad schematics to indicate direction player should face when landing
- Fix for number of steps in the orbit lines
- Store whether the system map was entered from galaxy map or cockpit, and invoke appropriate transition out back to the previous state
- Interdiction can be a Crime
- Headlights balanced. Now slightly more useful in an asteroid field. Larger ships with larger lights have stronger beams

- When the player accidentally hits an AI ship damage is accumulated. If a threshold is exceeded (by multiple hits or a powerful weapon like a rail-run), the ship turns hostile. The AI ship will "forget" the damage before it turns hostile:
1) if the AI ship recharges its shield to 100%.
2) if a (currently 30 sec) timer runs out.
- Make the system apply to stations as well.

- When a large planet is converted into a star, clamp the spin speed so that it cant spin too fast as planets and stars follow different rules
- Allowing gravitational distortion effects around white dwarves and neutron stars
- Added star class filter to the galaxy map
- Ice planets optimised and improved visually

- Rename the duplicate 12 Aquarii system to Bentonio

(audio)

- Additional audio for when entering Supercruise/Hyperspace.
- Added more debris and shockwave content to Explosions.

As I said, these are just some highlights that I have found of interest. There are loads more changes.

A big thankyou to Frontier for another big update. I hope us testers along with Frontier can have this patch rolled out to everybody else ASAP! Should be fun! :D

Interdiction can be a crime ? Interdiction can be a crime ?

I was reading thru the change logs and one thing stood out to me "Interdiction can be a crime". Does anyone know when Interdiction is going to be a crime in the new Beta. Perhaps when someone is interdicted that has no bounty and is clean? Anyone care to guess, or have any information on this ?

Thanks for this massive changelog.

For players interdicting to grief their victim, this change won't have much effect since they are planning to murder them anyway.

For pirates interdicting, this will add further incentive to get something out of the victim, since the act of interdiction will give them a wanted status.

Tell me how this is going to actually fix anything.

Doesn't need to fix something, as interdictions are part of the game. But now everyone, except system sec, interdicting you is a criminal and wanted. You can immediatly attack without committing a crime yourself. That's how I see this change....

How many innocent traders did you damage by interdicting them and how many slaves have you freed to justify that damage?

Yes you get to test the new version before it is fully released.

If you check the launcher it still shows you able to play the released version same as everyone else

I play as a pirate and I agree 100% that interdiction of a clean vessel should be a crime. If somebody were to box your car in with theirs and demand you empty your boot, or pull you out of your car at the traffic lights and start demanding they examine the contents of your vehicle with the intention to steal it, would you not want some protection from the law? I know I would. What gives any commander the right to freely interfere with another commanders journey/business? Nothing that I can see tbh.

I just played the Beta and I thought this was a nice new detail.
And so creating more life in the game begins

See Michael's response in the change log topic. You need a legal reason to interdict, in other words the target must have a bounty. Dragging law-abiding pilots out of supercruise for whatever reason, damaging their ships, is now a crime.

...

Revert it.

I'd suggest a new thread so this one is limited to sharing the beta news. I disagree with your thoughts on it. You accumulate fines but you're not exactly forced to pay them, and you can carefully accumulate them in systems you don't care to land in.
