Newcomer / Intro A couple questions from a new player.

I have been playing the game for a couple days now. I am just now learning the functions of flight and how to effectively combat NPC and Player Pirates. Now that this issue is finished I need to learn how to make money.

Questions

1. I currently run the Eagle. I have two Burst Lasers in the bottom two slots and the Multicannon in the top. Is this a good start for bounty hunting and would it be more effective hunting than it would to put cargo slots on it instead and trade route.

2. Is it possible to transfer funds from one player to another.

3. Is there factions and or groups that I could join for group play.

1. Depends. You'll get arguments for and against both. Try them out and see which works for you.

2. No

3. Yes - check the forum stickies.

Hope this helps.

Your weapons configuration is fine, you have thermal and kinetic damage covered. You could always mix it up a bit if you wanted. The Eagle isn't really a Trading vessel, you just can't get adequate cargo space on it to make it economically viable. You'll more than likely make much more money as a Bounty Hunter until you can upgrade your ship to something more suitable.

2. Is it possible to transfer funds from one player to another.

Not directly but if you really want to you could dump cargo in an Anarchy system for a friend to scoop up. Make sure the system has an outpost so your friend can easily sell it without the hassle of avoiding scans from police.

More options for group/co-op play are promised in the upcoming Wings expansion. In the meantime you could join a group. There is an entire forum dedicated to groups.

I ran the Eagle with the stock laser on top and 2 cannons on the bottom. It was a beast! You might think that 1 laser wouldn't cut through shields too well, and you'd be wrong. I could take out anything except Anacondas in it. Once the shields are down, pound on it with the cannons. Nice thing about this setup is it rarely overloads the power distributor. You can often leave your power at default and just hold down the firing button (note that I did upgrade my reactor and power distributor).

I flew this for a few days running bounties until I had about 1.5 mill. Then I got a Type 6 last night and started trading with it and made that 1.5 mill back in a few hours.

You don't need to do that in an anarchy or sell the goods on a black market. If you use the right-hand interface to jettison, you have the option of "jettison" or "jettison and abandon." The second option will ensure that the goods do not register as stolen. Just don't do it right outside a station, where the donor will be fined for littering.
