Did you guys hear that the lost Beagle 2 Mars probe has been found? It didn't crash land: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-30784886

still running "asteroids" and "rosetta"

but i might ditch asteroids... due to the use of GPU.
GPU might be the better device for some calculations... but it's also the most temperature sensible one, with it's "tiny" coolers that tend to fail most often.

i might want to sacrifice some calculation power... but not my GFX card ;)

Seeing this thread I thought I would re-install the boinc client. Last time I tried it a few years ago I had some problems with it. It seems to be problem free at the moment. :)

heh, I used to run seti@home for quite some time...maybe I'll reinstall :)
That's nice to hear, more team members are very welcome!

No problem, you can pick your project(s) of choice. I'm pretty sure you can uncheck GPU usage, too. So you still contribute CPU power, but the BOINC client never uses your GPU.

Yeah, a lot of problems have been fixed. It might have been quite an adventurous experience back in the day, but nowadays it's a pretty smooth ride.

I used to run SETI@home years ago, but lost track of it.

Marking this thread to remind me to take another look when I get up for the day.

Perhaps this is how we will discover the Thargoids?
Explorer: advance our model of the universe and find the Thargoids!
Trader: map the galaxy for new trade routes!
Miner: find and calculate trajectory of asteroids for more lucrative mining!
Bounty Hunter: fight diseases, hunt for cures!

Sorry if this is a stupid question (it's past my bedtime), how do I join the group?
I've been using BOINC for SETI for a few years on and off and always found it pretty cool being able to help out. Would be awesome to join a elite dangerous team!

Thanks!

yeah that was expected they would post about it here , isn't this considered spam yet?
I am suprised it took them so long to get a post in the forums

Is SETI online still going on? :D

Edit: I mean SETI@home

Yeah SETI@Home is still going strong :)

I'm not sure what you're on about here. Spam, what, why, how? And who are "they" ?
EDIT: Not meaning to sound rude here, just confused!

Is there anybody out there ?

Since it's cold outside I thought my PC could do the job of my heater and help some project at the same time.
So I started SETI@Home, joined the group, and.. wait there is only 7 active member in the group ? I expected a bit more from the community.

i just joined the team. Jeppe Geer on BOINC, CMDR Moonprayer ingame.
my PC usually crunches SETI tasks for 12-14 hours per day.

i have been helping SETI@home on/off since 2002.
