I don't get paid enough for this job.

There are so many issues with this "game". I feel like FD has learnt nothing about game design since the original Elite. Ship upgrades, so bland and boring. One A5 is the same as every other A5, not to mention the infuriating code system of upgrades that makes no sense. No trade assistance software computers 1000 years in the future? really? seriously? No alien races, seriously? Can't land on planets like I could in Elite 2 or 3. Can't even chat to my friends? Newsflash, 1997 called.

It's very pretty, you've got that part nailed. I love the interactivity of docking, could be more interactive but I wont complain. But, there is basically nothing remotely fun to do, trading is boring and slow (really, my job is far more exciting and they even pay me), mining is even worse. Trade prices barely change, and only within a set amount. You have to trade/mine the same items or its not even remotely worth it. Circle combat is boring. I can't even see my ship (how boring!).

Space is dangerous. This game is meant to be hard. Hard means challenging and challenging means there are task that require skill and effort. For some, that's enough to make it fun, for most others tangible and exciting reward for successfully performing a difficult task makes the challenge worth it. This game is not challenging, it is punishing. Being obliterated by station security because you forgot to perform one part of a routine part of gameplay that is not considered part of the challenge is punishment. Punishment is not fun.

Let me repeat that. PUNISHMENT. IS. NOT. FUN. OR. GAMEPLAY.

So yeah, I backed it, I "played" it, and frankly, don't pay me to do this job, so I am off to play games instead.

people please ^^

Do people do this with other games? Contact the company and say 'I find your game boring, I'm off to play elsewhere'. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

A number of good points.

I agree that the game is in a mess at the moment and I think we will lose a number of commanders over the next few weeks.

Several people on here will say "good, we didn't want them anyway", but that is narrow and shortsighted - these people who are leaving have valid views on the game. Chances are, when you eventually leave ED it will be for the same reasons if these points aren't addressed. For some it is already too late.

Of course they do. Is this forum the only game forum you've been to? Usually the complainers have a good points though.

Oh look, yet another thread with a dissatisfied customer speaking his honest opinion on the state of the game, his salient points met with a wave of fingers-in-ears NUH UH from the peanut gallery. Another day, another dollar.

Whine whine whine. Play the game or don't. We have seen enough whining threads going over the same issues to not be expected to respond in a kindly manner on every single one. The issues are known.

The "peanut" gallery can respond as they wish.

Well said. A forum is a place to discuss opinions and share reasonable thoughts. Give people something to read on a particular topic.

I really like Elite: Dangerous. Completely hooked. However, I can't help but agree with this post in some small way. I am finding the game fun because I like to be immersed in a realistic environment. This game does that well. I do wish there was more though. I don't get a varying sense of threat from system to system. I don't find the ships particularly exciting, including the upgrades. There isn't much depth to the game yet, but I know that more is coming. I am much more excited about the coming features of this game than how it stands currently.

Basically, I like it but can completely understand this point of view. Sorry if I am contradicting myself.

It's a game, not the end of the world. Yes it has flaws, but this game more than most is still obviously in development and it would never have existed in the first place had fans not backed it. There's more updates every week and additions on the way, bug reports and peoples ideas for improvements lie thick across these boards anyway so the post served no purpose other than pure egotism.

As said above, a number of good points.

I'd be more careful as how I present my "bitterness" (?) though, because most probably someone from FD will read this thread, and it must be disheartening to read a legitimate feedback, worded in a negative tone.

Ouch, I'm hoping the last sentence meant something.

So yeah, I agree with you for the most parts, what I do believe is that game should have had the "UNDER DEVELOPMENT" or "BETA" tag still attached to it. It's very clear to me (and most people here) that it is still the case. But it did not know that before buying it (i'm not a backer), and I try to avoid early access / beta games as much as I can. Don't want to encourage this practice + it's not fun to be an unpaid beta tester (at least for me).

Anyways, your thread is quite negative but sadly, warranted - imo.

Quick, let me find a positive aspect... this game "platform" has a very high potential for becoming great and... I hope and do believe it will, become great.

Oh look, yet another thread in the never ending flow of "I have issues". Is there any point on making a new thread on this? By all means add your thoughts to one of the existing ones but do we really need to beat that poor dead horse in an unoriginal way? Think about Magna Carta, did she die in vain?

You mean, you forgot to ask for docking permission, a routine you must have done 100 times because you knew you must ask for docking permission, but then you got a warning for not having docking permission... and then failed to get out in time, so the local authorities presumed you were some sort of jihadist bomber terrorist or something and fried your derrier?

I'm just speculating here, since you didn't actually provide the details behind your rant.

Anyway, hope you feel better after your rant, and enjoy playing your other games. ;)

Cant people just leave in silence.

There is some valid points in the post, but OP is clearly not here to discuss issues and how they could be solved.
Its also clear that OP havet done any homework on what ED would feature on releae, and what the plans for the future is.
OP should know that "planetary landings" as a planned feature for the future, and if OP do then whats the point of whining about it not being featured at release?

Making a game today is not the same as 10-15 years ago so dont even compare to the previous games...

OP just came in here to spew yrashtalk around and satisfy some trollish need to whine and thus do not deserve any respect at all. Any valid points is lost in idiocy. GG and thanks for the money!
