FD just Nuked loads of trade routes!

I disagree. What you've listed aren't things to do. They're how you do things. There is a difference.

Right now, I'm an Imperial agent deep in Federation space, navigating the byzantine Federal bureaucracy as I help an oppressed people throw off the yoke of Federal oppression. My primary tool to do this is the mission system, with a little "vagabond trading" to keep my holds full and the money flowing as I do so. I've also got a sweet little "Jeep" that I use to explore nearby space, looking for inhabited systems that aren't listed on the Galaxy map, bringing back exploration data and new destinations for me to go to. If I'm in a pew pew mood, I've got a combat ship to do a little bounty hunting, showing the people that there's another way to keep the peace besides the Federation and their excessive taxes.

Once I've helped liberate these people from the Federation, I already have another project lined up: help a hidden Imperial outpost I discovered expand, igniting another light of liberty and prosperity in the Galaxy. I also have the option of returning home and building up my status there, or helping free another system enslaved by the Federation. As the game expands, I'll have even more things to do, and many more ways to do them. The possibilities are endless.
Oh, it's the "Use your imagination" shtick.

I'll repeat my point from a previous thread: If you are _forced_ to use your imagination then the medium has failed.

Agreed if I use my imagination I don't need the game!
To clarify: It's okay (great, even!) if a medium (be that a game, book, movie or whatever) invokes and/or enhances my imagination; i.e. if it enables me to use my imagination to extend and fortify my beliefs that I am a trader/pirate/whatever.

If I do have to use this same imagination to create basic gameplay features, however, in order to gloss over missing content and/or gameplay features then we have a problem.

Suspension of disbelief vs imagination, mostly.

My trade run where I bring Palladium one way and Imperial Slaves the other got nerfed.
Suddenly the station supplying Imperial Slaves now had 0 supply and in stead had a high demand.. go figure.. I had to move system.

Exactly my first thought.

Everyone was complaining that only trading makes money... so rather than buff the other professions as they should have... they killed trade.

Way to go FD... Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid FD!

It's great that they did that. With bounty hunting, you can make only about 1/10 of the amount per hour than with trading. Trading made the game way! too easy. So, now everyone has to invest time. I saw players (traders) with almost 1 Billion Credits. That's rediculous.

They didn't make it easier, they made it take more time. There's a marked difference.

What a nightmare! At least you get to see more than two stations. Take a Discovery scanner, you might make a few credits! :)

Just been watching stock on my deserted Large Population Extraction Base. I checked Palladium for 30 minutes. The supply didnt drop so no one has been taking any of it. Palladium is noted as HIGH SUPPLY. And the base gains 14 palladium each 10minutes...

I agree with OP that trading routes have been nuked.

Note: If this IS intended, we should have gotten better in game trading tools FIRST before making this big change.

My route went from suppy levels at 532,488 to 522,231 after I purchased 120t... seems Frontier's math is a bit dodgy.. By the time I returned market was at 523,436, that was at 5am UK time, which seems quite a low point for activity. Seems that without actually being able to buy "real" trade data (prices and demand) that the big ships may be a bit pointless now... dread to think what it will be like on Saturday night......?

I like this change. Don't lie to yourselves; trading was ridiculously easy and mindless. Seriously. I have half a billion credits worth of ships and loadouts with absolutely minimal effort spent acquiring it. At least now you have to put in at least some effort to finding new routes every so often. They've improved the galaxy map a hundredfold, so it should be a lot easier to find new routes. This brings trading closer to pirating/bounty hunting in terms of making credits. Even then it's still way more lucrative.

The supply side of the economy has now been "turned on". Supply levels update based on actual player activity which is good! :)

Supply also replenishes at a steady rate (this is always something that can be adjusted and balanced to an appropriate level)

The next question is.... will the demand side of the economy be activated in the same way? ;)

Has anyone noticed any change in demand levels?
From my limited trading today I've noticed no changes, or at the very least demand levels don't update in realtime like supply levels.
If there's been no change in demand we can simply find multiple suppliers for a single station to fill unlimited demand.

So, people who took benefits from trading routes, seeking luxuries, etc. And now fly kitted Pythons and Condas are ok... The rest of humanity who joined the game lately has no such opportunity to get there in less than 1 year of playing. Is it really this?

Suddenly feeling a bit burned.

I wonder how this will effect all the crowd sourced trade tools like Slopey's Surely all the data is going to be out of date in no time at all and people will soon learn its not a good idea to upload data if the route they just found is only worth a half dozen trips. Maybe this was the reason behind the changes.
